MXLMics Dynamic Microphone, MXL BCD-1 Midnight)

I paid $40 for this mic New on amazon (you get 60$ off when you open an Amazon Credit Card) i wasn't fond of the Purple but for $40 dollars who am i to complain. The mic itself both on an Audio interface and/or mixer board sounds fantastic. The mic length is about the size of an sm58 but its hotter and sounds better. ive tried a few other mics like the Pr40, Re20 (fan) i settled on this after my Re took a dump one night and i wanted a replacement mic without the $$$ and im more than happy with this. it kinda reminds me of the re20 because of the design but unlike the re20 i don't need a cloudlifter which is great. Now the Cons...Wish the grill was black, ill have to fix that but other than that i can't honestly think of, Oh... yeah, the mount offers little protection from sounds off the desk but its not to bad you could always get a shock mount for it to solve that issue. looking for one myself. anyways don't pass this buy its a great broadcasting mic.

TLDR; Worth every penny. Like any studio mic, be prepared to add some compression or signal enhancers.I'm not the biggest audiofile in the world but I know enough to know when I'm using a quality microphone for the price point. This microphone is fantastic and its performance backs up its numerous mentions on home podcaster, home studio and home recording Top 10 lists. As I have never worked in a studio with that kind of equipment I can't speak to it's studio quality. With that said I did have to apply compression and single boosting to the mic to get the output I wanted... Where did I figure that out? From looking at studio mic single tutorials.

I got this microphone as an upgrade to my Neewer NW-700 Condenser Microphone. I have the BCD-1 going into my Behringer Xenyx Q502USB. Great mixer by the way! The BCD-1 has a great rich sound to it that brings out the bass of the user's voice. I would highly suggest using some sort of mixer or Amp with this microphone because you will need to add some gain to get the best out of this microphone. Since this is an end address Dynamic microphone you will have to be fairly close to the capsule for it to pick up your voice. However I utilize the compression knob on the Behringer mixer to allow it to be utilized a bit more flexibility. I would highly suggest that if you are using this in conjunction with a mixer that has a compression knob, to utilize that functionality. If you don't, then utilizing OBS (Open Broadcast Software) to add a compression filter to the Microphone.Overall, if you're looking to upgrade your condenser microphone setup to a more professional sound without the $400 price tag of the Shure SM7B or Rhoade Podcaster, then this is the microphone for you :)

I went into this purchase with my expectations low, as I had not seen a demonstration of its capabilities passed through dialed-in EQ and mastering. Pops are contained, sound is directionally isolated, and the build quality seems sturdy. While the native sound highlights a the mid-range signal disproportionally, it truly blossoms when you adjust the low end signal to compliment the mids in editing. If I were to rate the Shure SM7B at a 9, this would be a solid 8, especially at this price point.

I run a 24 hour streaming service and have gone through many different mics. This mic gives good clean spoken vocals that require only minor EQ adjustments to make sound good. The mics sensitivity is very good while background noise is at a minimum. I am pleased with the cost, the materials, and the sound quality.I have tried it for recording radio spots and it preforms like a much more expensive mic. I can only say I am please and would recommend this mic to in Blogger and any streaming service.

I dont know how they do it but this mic removes the noises of the room, similar to re20 and sm7b and others.Instead of flat it has a nice hi bump, for some added clarity to remove the wooly-flat response of many dynamic mics.

This microphone cancels out all background noise and the person speaking on it sounds crystal clear. A surprisingly sturdy build with full and strong sound quality. Excellent value for the money. An excellent alternative to the more costly mics.
