I used 1/4 inch, but you could use 5/16. The hole is 3/8 , They look great I have picture of final project if you would like to see it.

I don’t know if there are leg brackets. Ours are not joined together.

So, a deck height of 10' (or 120") ÷ 7.5" equals 16 steps. However, if you actually meant what is the stringer length, the pythagorean theorem: a²+b²=c², where 'a' is the rise, 'b' is the run, will calculate the stringer length 'c'.
