G.B.S Men's - Professional Shaving Straight Razor with Leather Case

Nice Razor, and customer service is great! I had my first self straight razor shave with this one. i then tried a shevette and am learning on that one for now to get my skill level up to use straight razor again. I think it is carbon steel came oiled so i do the same after use to prevent corrision and rust on steel blade. I think this is good entry level product at a good price, just under $20.00 from amazon with a nice leather case , case is free. kb3loh, Bob,H.

I got this as a gift. It does have a wood handle that has been stained on the outside to make it rose colored and a pleather case. I plan on putting some sort of a coating on it as when I was cleaning the oil off the blade the stain started to wipe off. The blade is pretty loose in the scales where the pin is and slides back and forth a bit. The blade wasn't ground correctly making one side of the cut slightly higher than the other. I have spent about an hour working with this and trying to get it into a "shave ready state" but as I am new to honing I have had no luck. As it is a $20 razor I don't expect it to be much more than that. Maybe with some better stones I can put an edge on it but so far it just looks nice. You get what you pay for and if you are looking for a nice "shave ready" razor then spend the money and at least buy the cheapest Dovo. I do feel they should change the label of it to say pleather instead of leather but other than that I can't complain.

For the money, this razor is pretty good. It does not come shave ready so be aware that you do need to invest some time with a wet stone and strop. Once dialed in, it shaves very well. The hollow grind gives it great audible feedback while shaving. I don't believe this will ever be my main razor but I think it's awesome backup / B blade. Hard to beat at $20.00

Junk!Do not buy this product as the description is inaccurate and it is of poor quality.Sure it is far cheaper than others, but as an example, the item broke in my hand as I attempted to hone it for the first time. This is because the scales is cheap plastic and the blade is anything but carbon steel. It seems like cheap stainless. Hard to sharpen and does not discolor on acidic exposure. Honestly, don't be cheap like I was trying to be. I think there are better options.

My brother seemed to really like this razor as a Christmas gift! My one complaint is the wood was a little rough in one area on the inside of the slot but it's nothing crazy, just a small spot. He's stoked to learn how to use it properly! And with something like this, you need to learn how to use it properly. Or else.

There is nothing leather or wood about this deal. The plastic scale is very cheap. The pleather case is at least functional. It's a Gold Dollar blade and definitely not shave ready. I plan on making a real wood handle and honing this piece myself. Rip off, but salvagable.

Blade opens and closes with no resistance. In my opinion, it should not open so easily. If you hold it upside down, the blade will fling out without touching the blade

a nice blade...it was in really good shape, although, I worked with it and have an excellent blade at this point...probably better for someone with a little more experience, or someone who wants to learn how to sharpen and hone a blade....basically a cheap razor of high quality....carbon steel, which is nicwer to work with....all in all, a great blade...I recommend....a perfect secondary razor to my 100$$+ dovo....
