Great flashlight
Very rugged, uses common Makita power tool 12 V batteries, bright and runs for a long time between batteries/charges

A bit loosely assembled, but throws a good beam of light.
After a long power outage, I got this light because I have a matching Makita drill. The choice was a good one, and I consider it a good purchase, but the head swivel is sloppy. It's shakey, which is surprising in this day and age, because there doesn't seem to be any way to tighten it up. On the other hand, everything works, and I can't imagine how the swivel sloppiness would cause any greater problems. The removable power supply lasts a long time, the charger seems to be of the "smart" variety, since I haven't had any creeping memory problems, and the lamp throws a good, strong beam of light.

No so good
I have Makita tools, this was a logical extension of my tool line. Its a bright light, but mine (two of them) did not last past a year. The connections in the swivel head seem to be the problem.I seldom have a tool that breaks, they usually just wear out. This tool seems to be the exception.I would buy other Makita tools just not this flashlight.I would not recommend this to anyone.

Flashlight
The flash is all right but I like the 9.6 volt one better. The flashlight head is not as big on the 9.6 volt one as the 12 volt.

Great product with high convenience
I love my flashlight. No problems with the positioning mechanism. The heavy battery keeps the base upright while the top is pointed at the target, so I can use both hands to work. Also fits my hand well to carry around. I haven't dropped or abused the light yet, so I don't know how tough it is. I probably would not have gotten it if I had no other Makita tools with the same battery. As it is though, it is super convenient to just grab a charged battery from my drill when I need a good, strong flashlight. Would buy it again. Would recommend it to a friend.

And now there are two......
We have had one of these flashlights for many years and just added this one to our "stash". We use it daily when walking the dog in the evenings. It provides great light and is easy to keep charged and bright.

Makita flashlight review
Quality product. Flashlight performs as represented. Charge doesn't last as long as lithium ion but the light is much brighter.
