USB Diagnostic Tool Scanner KIT with Bootstrap for EVINRUDE Outboard Engine E-TEC/Fitch

pleasant surprise arrived 2 days early via USPS - quite amazing - i have already loaded up on my PC connected to the engine (1998 115 HP Johnson Ficht) and run the diagnostics. Everything worked as expected - video instructions were straight forward easy to follow and install - very happy with the purchase - thank you!! The reason I purchased is that the check engine light came on on the instrument dial but no alarm and no SLOW - engine still ran fine with no power loss - suspected it was a fault in the dial itself as the low oil light has been on for a couple if years even though plenty of oil in reservoir. (sometime the light is dim sometimes bright). When I pulled the fault codes there was 1 for low voltage from a long time ago and 2 related to engine and water temp from 10hours ago which I had already solved by replacing the thermostats one of which was stuck closed. I reset the error codes but the check engine light is still on the instrument dial - does anyone know what causes a false check engine light on the dial - it is on as soon as you turn the key on?

From all I can tell, this is the fully legitimate diagnostic software from BRP. Installing the drivers for the communication cables was a bit tricky (be sure you have admin privileges) but once done, everything worked flawlessly. Beyond reading fault codes, you can obtain full performance history for the engine's lifetime, conduct tests and generate reports. The diagnostic screens and messages are also in full, complete, easily understood sentences; not some technical abbreviation that leaves you guessing. No codes to go look up. In my case, it told me: Starter Solenoid Circuit Open. This is going to save me a lot of headache and $$.

IF this isn’t the exact evinrude software I’d be shocked. It’s sweet and easy to use. Just follow directions and plug in.-Shows current error codes from motor-Lists all codes ever give off and when they occurred- change injector specs (if you’re inclined to do that- switch motor from remote to tiller- usage history reportJust awesome. And all for less than the price of a 1x plug at an evinrude dealer… which are getting harder and harder to find.

Product works as intended for diagnostics. Don't waste your money on the bootstrap cable if you have a newer motor....there is no way to get updated EMM map files if you have a newer motor. I have a 2013 Evinrude 225 HO. You have to be a dealer with access to their dealer website :-( It's worth it to be able to troubleshoot before you have to take it to a dealer to be fixed though.

Software works as advertised. Great price, allowed me to see the code that was causing my intermittent lack of power on my 2008 150 etec. My only advice is the same as the seller, watch the video that’s in the files for what operating system you have. It takes you step by step on how to install. I paused it probably 30 times to catch up and have had no issues.

No issues installing driver or program. Connected right away on my 2006 Evinrude E-Tec 200.

The manual on the CD has great information on it and was helpful but could not get the usb diagnostic cable to work to read the codes on the motor. Contacted the seller through Amazon and they advised reloading the software and driver but that still did not work next they wanted me to open my computer so they could get on it sometime and try and fix the problem. I did not feel comfortable leaving my computer open and asked if could set up a time connect and they said no and offered my money back and a shipping label to send it back. I have kept it mostly for the information in the manual and my try to find someone to help get the cable to work. Not happy with the customer support as the laptop I have has to much personal info to let someone on it unsupervised, though they did answer back and offered my money back .

The diagnostic part of the software was easy to use and to connect. However unless you are very computer literate be careful when you try to update the software on your EMM because the instructions I will not complete, I was in communications with them several times because of an error that they cannot figure out however I did so I am planning on posting a video On the correct way of upgrading VEMM
