This lamp is tall enough to hover over me as I lay in my recliner reading a book, working on my phone or iPod device, or doing some other detailed work, other than the cosmetic-type of work this is truly designed for. The remote control works great to turn on light, dim, or adjust temperature from cold bright white to warm yellow. The lamp has a great sturdy base that keeps the lamp head steady, yet is very easily positioned to where I want illumination. The head swivels so that I can direct the beam of light onto me fully and fairly evenly, which is quite nice. I do wish the bar at the top holding the eyelash lamp were about 6 inches longer so that it could hover over me just a bit more, but that would probably have made the lamp a bit less steady, so that is understandable.
