Thomas Cook Guides are the best
This guide is the usual high standard produced by the now defunct company and is comprehensive but becoming dated. The current price from Amazon is hideously unrealistic compared to it's original retail price. As such I cannot recommend it.

Very interesting!
This is an interesting and engaging little book. I bought it to whet my appetite for a planned trip to Lincoln and it did the trick. The bulk of the book is an historical overview (approximately 80 pages) and the remainder is three walking tours (approximately 25 pages). Mr Jones was leading archaeologist in Lincoln when the book was written (1993), so the history section reflects this interest in archaeology & architecture, though certainly not exclusively. There are lots of interesting B & W photos and a couple of maps. Given that it's nearly 30 years old the walking tours and maps might be a bit out of date but this doesn't affect the history section. Very enjoyable.
