3 scoops for 560 calories, 29g sugar. Tastes great and good profile for basic bulking.
I picked up this Creamy Chocolate Flavored Mass Gainer Protein Powder by NOW Foods to pack on a few pounds of weight in 2025. I tend to burn more calories than I store, so it's always been a challenge to gain. Needless to say, I am looking to gain with this product. Now Foods is a fairly well-established supplement company, so I feel safe with the stated ingredient list. This gainer is made up of both pea protein and whey protein, so it's a double-whammy of protein. It is sweetened with stevia leaf extract instead of sugar but it still has 29g of sugar from elsewhere. To hit the 560 calorie mark you need to use 3 level scoops which is a lot of powder. Best to use a very large shaker bottle with capacity for a ton of liquid. The label states 24oz of water or milk. After shaking this mixture for about 20-30 seconds I was left with a swirling chocolatey sludgy beverage. There tends to be a foaming thick layer on top that is just like chocolate mousse. Overall, the taste is great, and you do not taste any of the ingredients or any nasty aftertaste. My digestive system tolerates this protein powder very well. This is for bulking up, not cutting. So don't expect to gain lean muscle mass. Just mass. So, to review: big bottle, mixes well, tastes great, considerable sugars, and it's from a well-known brand. This is a tasty, good value in my book.

High Calorie Weight Gain Powder
Will start off by saying this is not a vegetarian-friendly protein powder, nor is it appropriate for people with dairy sensitivities as it does contain whey and cream. Also, a significant portion of the calories are provided by sugars. At over 500 calories and 40% fat per serving when added to a normal, well-rounded diet, weight gain will probably happen. We, however did not use it for weight gain. We used it as a meal replacement on hectic days when we knew we weren't going to have time for proper meals. We love the chocolate flavor (it is just right) but we should have read the label as the sweeteners are stevia and xylitol, neither of which we've ever been able to taste. Or if we do, the sweetness fades in seconds. We did mix the powder into whole milk so the chocolate flavor was satisfactory, but we would have preferred sugar as the sweetener. The powder mixes quickly in milk with no lumps or undissolved powder at the bottom or stuck to the sides of the mixing container (we used a a shake blender). It produces a satisfying, filling, old-fashioned style milkshake.

Good Price for Tons of Protein
Not as bad as I was expecting even though it's a pea and whey protein blend. I actually kinda liked it but my taste is different according to my partner. I don't really like sweet things and I don't tend to add milk into my protein. Anyway, I drink protein powder specifically for the protein and don't really care about the taste.

Pay attention to label
So I didn't really pay attention when ordering that a serving size is 3 scoops. Initially I thought 5 pounds of protein powder was going to be a lot since I usually only get 1 or 1.5 pound sizes of plant based protein powder. The powder I get most often is 35 grams for a serving and is just a single scoop. This is 140 grams for a serving so this according to the label will be just 18 servings for the 5lb container.I did see this is a blend of pea protein and whey and since I typically stay away from whey proteins I only took 1 scoop the first day to make sure I wouldn't have any digestive issues. Since I felt fine the next day I went ahead and did the full 3 scoops. Which I did feel a bit bloated so I've just been doing 2 scoops since and that feels a lot more comfortable for my body. It's also a bit easier to fit it all into my wide mouth mason jar for shaking it up.I don't much care for the taste and I think it is probably the sweet cream listed in the ingredients that I'm disliking the flavor. But it blends very well and is smooth to drink unlike some other protein powders that can be chalk I or gritty and leave a lot of undisolved residue at the bottom of the container.I've had the same NOW brand of just the pea protein before and that one gets very foamy from shaking it up.I often will use my protein powders just to get some quick nutrition even on days I didn't exercise or another time before or after a workout if I didn't have time to eat a meal and don't have any protein bars. I definitely won't do that with this because of it having so much more calories. It's still early to tell if it will give me the results I'm looking for. If so I might consider using this a few times a year since I've kind of hit a plateau with doing only plant based

I love it
Often, proteins can be chalky or have an artificial taste, but this one is rich, smooth, and actually enjoyable. Whether mixed with water or milk, it blends easily and tastes more like a milkshake than a supplement. The bottle is huge! I am definitely getting my money’s worth. Given the high-calorie content per serving, this product will last a while, even if I taking multiple shakes per day. The large container also ensures I won’t have to constantly repurchase, which is a plus. For such a calorie-dense product, it’s surprisingly easy on the stomach. I didn’t experience the bloating or discomfort This mass gainer protein hits the sweet spot—rich flavor, a huge bottle that gives you great value, and the perfect formula for building muscle. Highly recommended for anyone looking to bulk up without sacrificing taste!
