GREAT shearing machine
I bought this shearing machine as a back-up for my regular machine for shearing my llamas. I am so impressed with this shearing machine. First I will address the "cons" listed on other reviews. Yes the machine gets hot after running for sometime, but so do my other, more expensive shearers! I think it is quite smart of the company to include gloves! Yes, it is a bit heavy as compared to my other shearer, butnot so heavy that I can't shear a couple of llamas before my arm gets tired. I am very impressed with the variable speed and how well it cuts even at the lower speed. I have sheared 3 heavy wool llamas on 1 set of blades, and it is still good for more. I highly recommend this shearer!

Highly Recommend
I LOVE THESE SHEARS UPDATE: I wanted to add a few things, because I looked back on a few reviews and got irritated. Listen, if you are buying something read everything first that the seller list! CLEARY it is stated, the oil bottle is empty, you have to buy your own, second, it states it comes with gloves so assume it gets hot! People are killing me, these shears are amazing and next spring I’ll buy a second pair so I can have another set of hands shear along side me. I will ONLY buy this brand. They are fast, sharp, and perfect. I’m searing thick thick sheep wool from over a year of age and they just cut so perfect. These bad boys are awesome! They are sharp. We have lambs and used them on a thick coat. They are sharp! Sharp! Sharp! So sharp I nicked my ewe a few times!! These get warm, but that’s because they are operating quickly. Oil bottle is empty so you can put your own oil in it. I recommend them very much do some YouTube videos first so you don’t hurt your animal. Go into it slow. Good price!

Good price, and as a longtime sheep shearer, I was pleased with this unit.
Since the 1980s I have been using a high end $$$ electric shear brand on my herds of Shetland sheep. I was replacing my previous electric shears after they had been lost. I was dubious about not knowing this brand, and the lower price, but I took the gamble, since I only have 5 animals to shear currently.I was pleasantly surprised. I sheared my 5 sheep in around an hour, and unlike some reports, the electric shears did not get hot. I did keep them oiled and Kool Lubed between sheep. Although I did not use the variable speeds, I am glad they are available. There were few second cuts which I was pleased about as I am a handspinner, and I dont like 'slubby' yarn. I did not give 5 stars, but over time I will see how they hold up to use. I also shear other people's llamas, alpacas and their herds of sheep and Angora goats.I liked the longer electrical cord, and the colour option (I chose green). If you are not used to using shears like this, I would be really hesitant about using them on your dog. As a former vet tech, I can see you having to take your canine to the vet from nicking from the shear teeth, and they are unforgiving. The weight was good, and not heavy in my hand, and fit my hand very well. The case seems sturdy, and although I did not use them, it was nice there was gloves and a container for oil included.

Shears for my dog
This are supposed to be sheep shears .... but I had problems with my small dogs hair it’s half poodle and ??? Brittle brittle hair ... you can bath her put her back outside, she is a outside dog .., she constantly running in the woods getting sticks of all kinds , dirt and jumps in ponds rolls and rolls and mat’s her hair horrible... you cannot on your life get regular dog grooming trimmer to go through her matted poodle hair.., I have bad bad fingers Incant sit for hours trying to cut knots out .. fur to them wanting to amputate a finger I took my chance purchasing this and I regret not ever breaking down before now purchasing them ... cuts like butter will be truly easy if you have someone to hold the dog to prevent not cutting it... but I did try on my own just had to take several breaks in between and give her treats I love it !!!💖💖💖💖

EDITED TO UPDATE Doesn’t work
Edited to add. Upgraded from 1 star to 3. Customer service reached out and replaced the product. If this pair works better than the last, I will upgrade to 5. I appreciate them reaching out to me to make it right. :)Wouldn’t cut through the wool no matter what level I had the tension at. Spent 2 days only getting 2 done with horrible cuts. Do not recommend. Spend the money on a good quality pair.

Using it For a Shedding Wool Rug. DON'T LAUGH.
We bought two high quality, more-expensive-than-we-normally-would-purchase large area rugs when we moved into an older home with wood floors. The rugs were on an incredible sale. They are natural fiber WITH wool. They are beautiful, and a dream to walk on. HOWEVER, with normal wear, there are mini-tumbleweeds of wool and shedding. Normal thing we have experienced with wool rugs in the past, but THIS is high order. Normal vacuuming simply increases the wool shedding. Searched online for some advice--a particular blogger suggested a shearing tool. Even a simple beard trimmer, but a beard trimmer would not hold up for this work. THIS WORKS. It was a choice between getting rid of the rugs/the investment of good quality and purchase something different. OR purchase the right trimmer and occasionally and efficiently trim the rug surfaces. THIS PURCHASE was perfect. Go with a higher quality/large animal heavy duty trimmer! This was a game changer. Laugh if you must. Our rugs are beautiful and will last a lifetime.
