Sounds more expensive.
Hype 2. Fantastic, well defined bass. Almost a tad too much, but for me that is better than not enough. I listen to music with a lot of stand-up bass, and these really reproduce it well. Can hear all the woodiness, nuance, and overtones. Midrange is very good, horns and guitars are full and well-defined. Treble is clear and rich, but not piercing in the high-end. The Sonion armatures sound incredible. Sonion treble is superb. Large soundstage, distinct imaging. I have decided that if I can get this great of sound at a little over $200, I don't need to spend more. They say the Hype 4 has a little less percieved bass and better highs, but for twice the price. Edit: I got the Hype 2 for $229, I see the 4 is now $339. but I'm staying with the 2.

Hype is real
Very good, Great companion for a Moondrop Blessing 3, good bass, good mids, good highs. Only the cable and eartips are not up to the value of the phones. The purple version is beautiful.

Value for money
The hype 2 is my favorite portable audio device. Having spent well over 5k dollars on audio equipment and owning several high-end headphones and iems I do believe that you will not be disappointed with the hype 2

Sound by Itself is Good But...
First off I do want to say the sound is very good being neutral with a bass boost which I find pretty nice. I also didn't experience any of the rattling problems some people have reported but I didn't keep them long enough to tell if they develope that after a few days so keep that in mind. Now to the bad... as shown in the pictures there are potential qc issues visually. Out of the box they had some cloudiness inside the faceplates of every pair/side (so 4/4 (as I ordered, returned, reordered, and returned again) had some cloudiness with only one being "acceptable" and not being pictured here). In the pictures it is not as obvious as in real life but still pretty bad.Linsoul customer service says that it is likely moisture/water damage even though both were sealed so it is most likely a problem with shipping or how Amazon stores the boxes. But it is also on Thieaudio as there was no silica gel packet or anything to regulate the moisture in both pairs.I have no problem with Linsoul as their hands are kind of tied here since Amazon does have free returns and I don't consider this their fault but still when ordering an item you'd expect it to be just like in the pictures but it wasn't for me.I'd say if you are willing to take the risk or don't care for looks, yeah these are a pretty good deal.

Natural opinion
For the price, it was a good choice. I like that their signature sound is refined for what it's worth.

Ordered three pairs; two were opened and defective.
My first order were the purple color; the box arrived unsealed/obviously used and had a visual defect in the resin (cloudy delamination around the edges like air or water had gotten in). I sent them back and ordered another purple pair. When those showed up, they were sealed this time but still had the delamination defect like the first pair did. I figured this defect might be associated with the purple color so I ordered a blue pair. When the third pair arrived, they didn't have the defect but the box was unsealed and the tips were obviously opened and used again. These IEM's sound great but ordering them is a gamble between the QC issues of the product itself and the possibility of receiving a used item from amazon.

Incredible for the Price
I've come across conflicting reviews, but I opted to personally test these earphones with my Astell&Kern SP2000, specifically for listening to Electronic, Hip-Hop, J-Pop, and Jazz/Funk (with a focus on bass-heavy tunes), and they proved to be incredible. I had previously had the opportunity to try out the Thieaudio Monarch MK2, priced at around $1k, but unfortunately, they were a bit out of my budget. Hence, I chose these earphones, and they suit my preferences for the music genres I enjoy. They deliver a punchy and dynamic bass response, providing a warm sound, along with a clean midrange and dynamic treble.

Above and beyond
I completely agree with AndyIgnore the bad press you might have seen, as it has been addressed. The Thieaudio Hype 2 sound above and beyond every other IEM in my collection. They're well worth it
