Energy-saving convenience
Energy-saving way to quickly heat up to 12 ounces of water for coffee or tea. Once you get used to the codes the cup uses, it also is excellent for heating soup or re-heating stew or pasta. I relied on this daily while camping in a solar-battery powered shed while between houses. It is so convenient, however, that I continue to use it daily despite now being back to a full kitchen with standard electricity and the choice among many different appliances.

Perfect to make lunch in the office
The media could not be loaded. This portable electric mug is a life saver for anyone stuck in an office all day long. I make instant noodles, instant soup, pasta, etc. in this thing. It heats up water really fast. I dont recommend heating up any liquid that can scald because the scalded residue sticks to the side of the wall and overheats the temperature monitor which will then break the cup (happened to me and so I had to buy a new cup). So stick to water based liquids rather than thick cream based liquids. Anyway, it's great value for the amount of lunch money you can save with using one of these things to make lunch instead of buying lunch, and it offers a great alternative to boring microwave leftovers. There is no weird plastic smell of any sort and it is not noisy. There is a loud beep when it senses the temperature has reached a certain point though (watch my video for example). It turns itself off when the temperature reaches a certain point so you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving it on. It is quite durable and super easy to clean (everything comes right off easily) but just be careful when washing it under the tap; you don't want water getting into the socket or the under parts of the cup.

Its good, but don't use this for tea if you use it for food.
This claims to be ceramic lined. It actually feels like some kind of non-stick surface which makes some sense since it is technically a tiny hot pot. So no idea how true their ceramic claim is. I did find It held on to a lot of flavors when i used it to make food as a hot pot. It makes ramen and dumplings that can fit fine, But the tastes didn't wash out until i chemically scoured it with citric acid, and then vinegar, and then i had to let it sit on "stew mode" for an hour. After that, it did fully purge the ramen taste, but if you want this for both Ramen and Tea, buy 2, dedicate one to tea and the other to not-tea. Don't mix them up.I haven't been able to check the temps at its "boil" but it does eventually get there. No idea how uniformly the water hits 212 degrees but it works well enough for black tea. For my taste.while there is some question in my mind about if its uniformly hitting 212 degrees throughout a fill-line pot of water, im 100% confident it gets up there for lower temp teas. If you drink green tea this will be unquestionably fine. Water do doesn't circulate and it does not hit a rolling boil. So stir the water when it starts to boil.It has a metallic liner so you probably want to at least count to 10 before drinking your tea, but you can brew in it, and drink from it. In fact, you kind of have to because it doesn't have a pour spout. Its not too hot to touch, and besides has a handle that's perfectly serviceable. The lid has no safe location for the steam vent. You just have to remember not to let it pipe your hand with hot air. I have not been scalded yet but it might be possible. If you're older and think you might be the kind of person who could suffer a burn and not realize it until it was too late - like if you have to crank your hot water in your house down to avoid accidentally cooking your skin in the shower - then be careful. Its down 1 star because of the taste issue, and because its not really THAT hot. I've had hotter desktop kettles, just judging from how lively the boil gets.

UPDATE: Coating comes off //A perfect mug/kettle
Update: After using this little mug for a couple of weeks I noticed there were dark spots on the bottom. I wasn't worried about scratches because I never use metal implements on coated cookware. It appears the ceramic coating is just flaking off in places after less than a month of use. I have no idea what the metal underneath is, but it's definitely not stainless steel. I'm lucky enough to have this happen during the extended Christmas return window, otherwise I'd be stuck with it. So Amazon still gets their stars, and hopefully somebody will make a mug like this that is safe to drink out of in the near future.I bought this on a whim because I have a terrible cold. It is perfect and I love it. I'm currently drinking cinnamon cardamom tea out of it, yesterday it made curry soup and now tea, the day before that it was egg and lentil soup and also more tea.To clean it out I just fill it with water and a spray of 7th generation dish spray, let it boil, and rinse it out. The ceramic interior is very easy to clean and it's the perfect size. I may get one more for the kitchen so this lil guy can be a permanent resident of my nightstand.Eventually I'll have to try to make a soft boiled egg in it. The eggs in my lentil soup cooked perfectly.
