Brace yourself for some KILLER stories. From the clever and creepy minds of Stephen King (Pet Sematary), Michael McDowell (Beetlejuice), George A. Romero (Dawn of the Dead) and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (creator of Sherlock Holmes), comes an all-star anthology of horror. To keep from being eaten by a modern-day witch (Deborah Harry, Videodrome), a young paperboy weaves three twisted stories to distract her. In "Lot 249," a vengeful college student (Steve Buscemi, Fargo) resuscitates an evil mummy to teach unsuspecting student bodies (Julianne Moore, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Christian Slater, Mr. Robot) a lesson in terror. Then, "Cat From Hell" is a furry black feline who cannot be killed…he may have nine lives, but those who cross his path are not so lucky. Finally, in "Lover's Vow," a stone gargoyle comes to life…to commit murder. In this classic cult favorite, fear comes in threes.Bonus Content:2023 4K Transfer from the Original Camera NegativeIn Dolby Vision (HDR-10 Compatible)Audio Commentary with Director John Harrison and Screenwriter George A. Another underrated gem
The last time I'd seen this was on cable in the 90's. My favorite out of the stories has always been the one where James Remar's character has to keep that monster's dirty secret. The short stories are entertaining all around though, including the main one that connects all of them, which consists of a kid held captive by a witch as he tells her these stories to stall her from killing him.

Three fun & terrifying ‘Tales’
Based on the classic TV series, 1990’s ‘Tales from the Darkside: the Movie’ features a trio of tales such as a mummy who’s under the command of a young archaeologist, a cat who creates catastrophe for a wealthy family & a hit man hired to kill it, & a struggling artist who vowed never to tell another living soul of his encounter with a gargoyle. It also features a maniacal woman (Debbie Harry of New Wave band Blondie) who plans on cooking a child for her dinner. Also starring Steve Buscemi, Christian Slater, Julianne Moore, William Hickey, David Johansen, James Remar & Rae Dawn Chong, these ‘Tales’ deserve a spot in anyone’s horror film collection.

A good edition to the Tales TV show
With three stories in the anthology some will be stronger than others. The first story is a rendition of a Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle story entitled "Lot 249" and is pretty well executed story of revenge. A young man (Steve Buscemi) Finds an ancient scroll that allows him to bring a mummy back to life to do his bidding. The second story is by Stephen King called "The Cat From Hell" and is a bit silly in my opinion. A rich old man hires and assassin to kill a cat that murdered the other people living in the house. The last and in my opinion best story is called "Lover's Vow" A young artist sees a monster kill one of his friends. The creature tells him that if he ever tells anyone what he saw it will come back and kill him. While escaping he meets with a beautiful woman, falls in love, marries her, and they have two kids but can he keep the secret? If you ove anthologies like Creepshow, Monsters, The Night Gallery, Etc. i would suggest you give this a watch.
