Great Smart Dimmer for My Man Cave!
I installed the TP-Link Tapo Smart Dimmer Switch in my basement man cave to control LED can lights, and it works flawlessly. Setup was quick, and the app integration with Alexa makes adjusting brightness super convenient. The dimming is smooth with no flickering, and the switch feels high quality. No hub required is a big plus. Perfect for smart home upgrades on a budget—highly recommend!

Works great. Easy installation if you're comfortable changing a wall switch.
For many years, I've used X-10 modules to control the lighting in my home. For the most part they worked fine, but every time adjustment to account for longer daylight hours or daylight saving time required a trip to the X-10 controller to make the adjustments. Last year I replaced my X-10 lamp modules with TP-Link Tapo smart plugs. This year I decided it was time to replace the X-10 wall switches that control outside lights. I knew from when I installed the X-10 switches that there was a neutral (white) wire in all of the boxes, so I was good with that requirement. Installing the Tapo Smart Switch was actually easier than installing the X-10 switch because the X-10 required that you identify the line wire from the load wire for connection. The Tapo switch makes no such distinction; just connect two black wires to two black wires (plus neutral and ground). The switch was slimmer in depth than I had expected which is very helpful if you're working with a crowded electrical box. Once installed, the switches paired easily with the Tapo app, and I set up a schedule for each on my phone. I'm using LED bulbs in the outdoor light fixtures, and everything works fine. The X-10 switches had solenoids in them which made a very audible "clack" sound whenever they turned on or off. The Tapo switches are silent. So far, I'm very pleased with the conversion.

Easy swap for existing switches to keep a switch and add Google home functionality.
These were quick and easy to install if you're reasonably comfortable with house wiring. I like them because I can still use the physical switch easily but I can also control the lights through Google home. The little ring light on the switch when the lights are off is nice to find the switch in the dark, but something to keep in mind if it would bother you depending on where you place it.

Better settings than the Kasa equivalent
I added this to an existing host of Kasa Switches and Plugs. This looks identical to the Kasa switch and works with the same Tapo app (which is compatible with Tapo and Kasa devices) but it has some added functionality that you can set up in the app which the Kasa is lacking. Not a major update but it was still nice to see that it has some added functionality at a lower price. For example, you can set it up that every time you turn on the switch, it turns itself off after a set time, which is great if you want to use it in a storage room for example, or if you want to use this to control a bathroom exhaust fan so it can turn off automatically after X set time in the app. It also has a delayed shut off option which is great if installed on a light in a very dark area and you need time to walk away before the light goes off.The overall profile is fairly slim which is good if you’re installing it in a cramped box. However, instead of screws typically found on switches, it has pre-installed wire leads which you connect with the supplied wire nuts. To me that’s a con as it adds additional unnecessary bulk in the electrical box. Not a big deal but something worth considering if you’re working with a super cramped box.All in all I’m really pleased with it.

This works great!!!!
Went on a trip.... Go in the garage, turn on the light, pack the car, get in the car, and leave.... That night we noticed the garage lights were left on (we have an outside security camera)... nothing we could do but call the neighbor. When we got back I installed this, downloaded the app... and got it up and running in no time. Note that I also got some Kasa wifi remotes for some of the plugs... this same app (Tapo) also runs Kasa, so I can turn things on and off in the same app. Easy setup. The app is great... you can set schedules (make it look like you are there turning lights on and off) and a lot of other things. I set it so that it goes off every night at 11:00pm... that way if the light is on when we leave, it will turn itself off.I also put the app on my wife's phone, logged in, and wham... she can run the lights. Will definitely buy more to make this a smart house.

Highly recommend, makes life easy
Easy to install and the app found the switch very quickly. We have this for the front door light, which the app makes it SUPER easy to schedule on and off times and the backdoor flood light that we inevitably forget to turn off after we have gone upstairs. Just a button click and it is off!

Alexa-based wall switches
These switches connect to WiFi and work great. They connect to the Tapo app and are very adjustable.

Smart or not, doesn't work either way.
Wired up easy, took a few tries to get attached to the app. Then it wouldn't connect to my wifi. Checked the reviews and the troubleshooting, Found that the Amazon Basics one is better. Figured I would just not use the smart way till I got the Amazon basics one showed up.... WRONG, physically pressing the button doesn't work either. Garbage product. No wonder Amazon has this listed that it is a frequently returned item. Will be sending back and not using their products again.
