Great 3d molds for floral nail art!
These silicone molds are great for creating floral-themed embellishments for nails! They appear to be well made, as they seem thicker than some others I have bought for this purpose (there was one mold in the set that was thinner than the other 3, but it didnt really impact anything). The thickness allows for depth of detail, as well as flexibility for filling and releasing the casted item without the fear of tearing the molds. The molds are clear silicone, so they can be cured from both sides. Whether you're using solid gel, gel polish, or builder gel to fill, they provide beautiful detail on the casted item.Experimenting with these molds, I learned a few things. As I mentioned above you can use solid gel, gel polish, builder gel, and even rhinestone glue to create your floral-themed item. Whichever medium you choose, keep the following in mind...If you use gel polish, you will use a good bit to cast some of the larger items. As I mentioned, the molds are deep, so to fill them to get all of the detail, you have to use a fair amount of gel polish. If you fill them up too much, just use a scraper (or a credit card or something with a straight edge) to take off the excess, similar to how you'd scrape a stamping plate. A potential issue with the amount of gel polish is curing - when you have very thick gel, sometimes it's difficult to cure all the way through. Since the mold is clear, you can cure one side and then flip it over and cure the back side. I would suggest you cure both sides multiple times (also remove the casted flower after its been cured in the molds several times and then cure the flower outside the mold on both sides if you're using black or very dark gel polish). Lighter colors/jellies cure faster than darker/opaque ones. The details definitely translate well with gel polish. The attached photo demonstrates flowers (the blue, black, and white flowers) created with gel polish (the blue flower is made with a blue jelly gel polish - the other 2 are normal opaque gel polishes). If you use solid gel or certain types of builder gel that are harder, you have to make sure the gel gets into all of the crevices to get the detail. That may involve using some tools or may require you to pull/stretch the mold to get the gel into tiny spaces. Again, because of the thickness, I would recommend curing multiple times on both sides. The details also translate well with solid gel if you get it into all the crevices. The attached photo demonstrates flowers (the yellow, orange, and clear flowers), created with solid gel pigmented with powder (except for the clear one). After curing (no matter what medium you use), you may have to trim off some edges. Just use cuticle cutters, scissors, or file the edges. If the item isn't cured all the way through (and you've used gel polish), you may get some polish that leaks out when you trim the edges. Just wipe off the excess, trim as you like, and cure the item again for a few more minutes on both sides.Don't clean the mold with alcohol or acetone - use soap and water (or even scotch tape) to clean it. If cured properly, you shouldn't have much of a mess. Clean and maintain this mold similarly to how you would a silicone stamper.Overall, these molds are great 3d nail art tools. I would definitely recommend!
