Heavy Duty post rammer, does the job!
I purchased a slightly cheaper post rammer which failed after the seventh post, the welding parted company at the top end. This Silverline one though is far superior in it's design and it's heavier weight construction. The one I purchased also had four additional L shaped metal straps welded over the welded top end disc, giving it extra support on the weakest part of the rammer which is the disc end weld. So far I have rammed in 40 plus 8' post stakes, so now I consider myself a real man with added extra arm muscles! Tip's, I used a set of large industrial steps to gain height when using the rammer, this saves lifting the rammer above yourself possibly straining your vitals! It's far easier, if not more leary when delicately perched 3' off the ground sweating like a good un but it sure does help and also if the ground is dry and hard, use a metal stake pole and make a starter hole and then moisten the post hole with water to make it more soft. I also used a small 12 inch level to keep checking the post was straight when ramming in.

Fast and effective
Excellent tool for the job of pounding fence posts into the ground. I found this much easier and quicker to use (and with less damage to the posts) than a fencing maul. When using, this tool, you need to be careful not to scrape the bottom of the tool against the fence post as this will damage the post and could reduce their life. The bottom/inside edge of the tool is rough which increases the risk of this happening (I keep planning to smooth it off but never get around to it).Hint: I use a 6 foot crowbar to create a pilot hole of the required depth (18 inches for the posts, deeper for strainers). Then insert the tip of the post and hammer home. In my case, the ground below the topsoil is full of shale and so this ensures that there are no stones in the path of the post and also ensures the post will be closer to the vertical. The driver could stand to be a bit heavier, but that's just picky and depends on personal strength and height.

A heavy, handy piece of kit- requires serious upper body strenghth or two (coordinated) people.
If you have posts to put in, this is the kit for you, but don't bother unless you have some decent upper body strength, I'm not a small man, nor a weak man by any stretch of the imagination, this tuck some humping about, I managed about 10 posts in one afternoon and that was it for me. If yiu're used to manual work and postin whacking it may well be easier for you.It puts the posts in nice n quick, no messing and doesn't damage them the same way a sledgehammer can, plus if you're putting up tall posts - mine were 2.4m - it's really handy, unless you're 3m tall you wouldn't reach with a sledgey!A cracking piece of kit, heavy and well made, also when you are done with it, it's handy to store tall things in in the garage.

Post banger - not great condition
I was surprised this was so badly marked and rusted in places (and I noticed it is now approximately £10 less than I paid) - the wrapping wasn't damaged so that suggested it had been dispatched in this state. However the issues appear to be cosmetic rather than structural so I will keep it rather than return it as it is extremely heavy. We had this make previously and it is an ideal tool for knocking in fencing posts in fields and paddocks.

Safe buy - works well.
Good quality. Heavy enough to do the job but not so heavy you can't use it. Used a petrol driver (hired) for most posts as we had 150+ to do and is recommended, but it worked very well driving in both 80-100mm and 150mm round posts into semi-soft ground without a pilot hole. Would recommend an auger (borer) if firm/dry ground but we only had trouble with a few posts which will need an auger to bore out the hole. We found two people could work together on the really tricky posts and it worked better than the petrol driver on the difficult ones due to the extra impact achievable.
