I'm sure if you wanted to cut them you could.

I've painted the "black" (more like charcoal gray) and the light green and they came out pretty true to color. I used a paint & primer and about two coats on each side. I'll try and post a pic on a review. I really like the way they turned out

Q: Can adhesive hooks be used to install them instead of having to drill a hole into your ceiling to install the hooks?

Hi, I suppose you could use adhesive hooks, as long as they're # rated to hold the collective weight of the panels; I would say at least 20#, so you wouldn't have to worry about them un-sticking. I hung "S" hooks from the ceiling hooks and attached the top panel to the "S" hook; it allows them to move a bit of ya bump 'em. The only concern is have is the aesthetic of seeing the adhesive part on the ceiling; I would focus on them everytime I walked past it it would drive me nuts. 🥴

Q: In the pictures, there's a tube mentioned but not in your inventory of parts. Why is this? Is there not a tube to hang this from?

The tube did not come with my package; you can hang them from any type of curtain rod or similar item. I used rings with a clip on them.
