MasterClass Deluxe 2 Piece Stainless Steel Meat Carving Set, Carving Fork and Carving Knife Duo – Silver/Black

This is a really high quality product. I was a bit unsure about paying what seemed like quite a lot of money for it, but I have to say that it really is all I wanted. The build quality is excellent and the knife is really sharp (and also really quite big!). Comes in a nice storage / presentation case that is very useful to keep them in, especially since you don't want something as sharp as the knife just kicking around in the cuttlery drawer. Far too easy to get a wound that would require a trip to A&E! The fork is also a very good size and the built in knife guard is also a very useful feature (one of the main reasons for me buying this particular set). This is especially the case given what I have already said about the ability of the knife to do serious damage to flesh if not handled properly...I would really recommend this set to anyone wanting a carving set. One point raised by another reviewer who criticised it for not being dishwasher proof. It clearly says on the packaging that it is hand wash only (with the emphasis on care whilst washing toavoid injury as noted above!). Any item that has a composite handle must not be put into a dishwasher if you want it to last. The heat causes quick damage to such handles and they won't last. However, with careful hand washing, I am sure that this product will last for years and give much excellent service.

This carving set more than met my expectations in terms of design and functionality. It appears to be well made and I particularly wanted a set where the fork has a lift-up guard. The handle design gives a comfortable and secure grip. It is only a few days old as I write so obviously it's durability remains to be proven, but there is nothing initially to suggest that it will not perform well. Recommended.My only complaint is that the packaging in which the product arrived was much larger than the product packaging (and also contained another item which weighed 1 Kg). The large space remaining was poorly filled with scrunched paper, which has replaced the older polystyrene chips or bubble wrap (presumably for "green" reasons) and the outer box arrived very battered; this resulted in some minor damage to the well made thick cardboard box in which the carving set came, and is meant to be stored, which was a bit disappointing.

Good value. Get a good steel to keep the knife well honed and it will look great on your dining table for special occasions or weekend roasts.

I’m always sceptical of cheap knives, but this was an emergency last minute purchase. Honestly, it’s a lovely piece of kit - quite weighty, and very sharp. Comes in a nice box to keep them in good condition. Thoroughly recommend.

This was a present. Having watched someone lose a finger, I have never bought the now-fashionable 2-pronged forks so I bought this set because of the guard. But the recipient tells me the knife is really good and easy to use, so that’s a big plus!
