would it fit a big 11 year old?

I bought mine as I have fracture in my upper spine so needed to buy something shorter and lighter (I'm 46!). It's a great bass, sounds good and nice to play. It's about the same length as a normal 6 string guitar. However, you may want to also consider something like the size of a Fender Mustang bass (30 inch neck) as I think a big 11 year old will soon outgrow the Mikro, and it may be more of a step up later on if he/she goes on to play a full length bass (34 inch neck). You could try a short neck bass in a music shop near to you and see how it feels (of course you don't have to buy it there). Hope that helps.

Can l use elixir bass strings on this bass guitar?

Hi I don't see why not but bear in mind it's actually shorter than most short scale bass guitars so the strings will really affect tone. I've read reviews that claim the best strings are the original Mikro strings with gauges .045, .065, .085, .105 It's a really good little bass that plays well. Being a short scale, would this be suitable for a 6' 1" male, with larger than average hands?

In reply to your question, I would say you would have a lot of difficulty playing this bass wit large hands.I would definitely recommend a full size bass guitar.

Hi the bass arrives well packed and fully assembled, mine required no setup except tuning. Only accessories are 2 Allen keys for setup if required. No gig bag, lead strap, tuner etc. It sounds really good I'm really pleased with it. Hope this helps.
