Neilsen CT2760 2760 Long Reach Pick and Hook Set, Black

One of our more than 40 year old uPVC windows had got stuck in the 'closed' position a couple of years ago. Because there are two other windows in the room, we had been lazy about it and ignored the problem for ever but now, thanks to Covid, I've been working through lots of little niggles in and around the house that hubby's been ignoring for ages. Now it was the window's turn.After having removed the window handle / lever, I poked around in the handle's gearbox without result. I found it very inaccessible with my usual tools. I then went online and, after much searching, I found a blog where a guy had had the same problem. Eventually, he had given up and spent lots of money on a locksmith who inserted a lock pick though one of the handle mounting holes, jammed it into the serrated edges on the stuck mechanism and, within seconds, managed to release the mushroom bolts that kept the window shut. The window thus having been opened, the guy was then able to replace the failed gearbox and Bob was his uncle (whoever Bob is). The alternative would have been to break the glass in order to get at the gearbox.So, I ordered this set of lock picks from Amazon and after it arrived yesterday I put it to work. It did take me more than a few seconds, but after about five minutes or so of feeling my way around inside the mechanism, the window opened - hurrah. Whilst I was poking around the mechanism, I was a little afraid of breaking or bending the picks, but they proved to be plenty strong; even the pick points remain undamaged. All that happened was that some of the black paint has come off the picks but who cares about that, right?All I need to do now is go and buy a replacement gearbox on Monday and I'm confident that the window will function again as it should. So, for me, this pick set did a perfect job and I'm exceedingly happy to have saved lots of money. Our nearest locksmith is more than an hour's drive away so you can imagine the cost of the call-out fee, never mind charging for the job. Happy out!

These items are practical especially in the bathroom, and kitchen. The only one was a bit shorter, these are longer with nice handles. They make life easier. Thank you!

The handles and shafts are quite thin, I was expecting something slight beefier, but having said that they seem quite robust and have performed well in the limited jobs I have undertaken thus far.

Length with handle 227mm, length without handle 148mm, rod diameter 3.48mm. Good grip and good quality hooks but for my work in my case too big diameter of rod - no access to the gap. However recommendation.

I bought this set really just wanting the hook to use for removing split pins on a light aircraft. It does and excellent job making something that was quite fiddly absolutely dead easy. The tools are well made and robust and good value for money. I've found other uses for them and they are a very handy addition to my toolbox.
