Plustek AD480 - Desktop Scanner for Card and Document, with 20 Page Paper Feeder and Exclusive Card Slot. for Windows only

I wasn't sure what to expect from this scanner. I was pleasantly surprised. The instructions aren't that great, but it is plug and play and fairly easy to use. I fooled around with scanning at first and in a short amount of time, I was a pro. For the price, I'll give it a 5. The quality of the scan isn't the absolute best, but it is good enough for what I do. I noted 4 stars for "easy to use" only because I had to figure a few things out prior to using, but once I did it was very easy to use. Also love the small size.

This is so easy to set up and perfect for smaller desk spaces or just to save space in general! Scans documents like a charm!

Pro: You can scan as jpgs without using any other software besides what your computer has (in my case Windows paint- couldn't get it to use LibreOffice or other app)Con: File/type association gave me fits - Being able to scan searchable PDF's is a must. File and app association was beyond difficult on this upgraded Win10 laptop I was testing on.The device is on the dainty side, so be careful moving the sliders for page sizing.Considering the price, I didn't expect much. The software comes on a CD and is not downloadable. I had set up an older laptop as the station in which to do the scanning and it was frustrating to get the registration for ABBYY Sprint OCR. I ended up doing the first scans as jpgs. Which is fine for now. The other software is years old and throw-away.The unit is compact. The sliders for paper sizing require both hands. Biz cards fit in the slot, but not laminated ones.Quality of scan is acceptable. Did not bother with photos.Now that I've played around with it, I am ready to throw down for some better software/doc management.

This is one Righteous scanner.This scanner scans very well and the documents look great.The software is easy to use, I save scans as individual documents or I can save them in a package. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a scanner.

I will give a 4.5 star , if system can selectThis is my second time purchase Plustek scanner. This scanner is more small then before I purchase. I just need scan to PDF and some plastic card, so this one will be better , and scanner is very small. , so I can put in the drawer.The reason that I deduct 0.5 star is because , software interface look like 10 years ago. And different then another scanner that I purchase. I asking Plustek technical support can you help but they can't.

This scanner is a hot mess. Just getting the drivers on my system was a disaster, all of my McAfee alarms went off and tried to block the driver install because of spyware attached to the scanner driver and they want you to pay an additional $60 for the updated drivers.Skip this one and buy a more recognized brand, return is on it's way.

This is truly plug and play. It scans very quickly if somewhat off-center, but its good enough for my uses. What is frustrating as heck however, is that it only has 2-sided setting so my scans are coming out with every other page blank. I quote from the manual: "For single sided scans, load the documents face down so that the side to be scanned faces towards the paper chute. For double-sided scans, load the desired page order of documents face down so that the side to be scanned faces toward the paper chute". Huh?

My desk area is looking so much better using this scanner! It is easy to use, and you don't have to have all the files, etc named before scanning as you can assign names, etc after scanning. Good deal for the $$
