Q: I need to mount this switch on a surface box. Do I need 30mm depth, or will a 25mm box do the job?

Hi. I have fitted my ones with 16mm surface boxes . So 25mm will do easily

Q: For the single light switch are the holes present or do i have to drill out please ?

The holes are pre drilled the decorative covers push out then you push them it to hide the screws

Yes it should be used indoors and will work with any light fixture including controlling an external garden light rated 30W. It would be advisable to earth it in case the external light develops any water leaks to prevent from electrical short circuit.

Yes! this will work as it is a 2 way switch x 1 gang. If the switch downstairs has more than 1 rocker switch button on........then this is no good for your needs.
