A terrific, non greasy, non-smelly, very effective sunscreen!
I am obsessive about sun protection, and bought this for a trip to Hawaii. My goal was not only not to get burned, but to not even get tan. This sunscreen was the best I've ever used. It rubs in all the way without leaving white streaks or a ton of greasiness. It doesn't smell very strongly of sunscreen. And it protected me well -- I barely got any tan lines! My only regret is that I only bought one bottle and should have bought 5!

Great stuff!
I bought this for a trip to Ecuador, where I knew I needed serious daily protection that wouldn't hurt the coral I would be snorkeling around. This sunscreen did a great job. It is a little "runny" in texture, which means that it goes on really easily and blends into the skin without leaving white marks. The only time that it "didn't work" is when I forgot to put it on my back...that made it really clear what a good job it was doing on the areas I applied it to. It doesn't have a strong scent, nice for both daily use and in areas with bugs where you don't want a scent that is going to attract them. On my skin, it was weightless, in the sense that I didn't feel greasy or like I needed to take a shower to clean it off at the end of the day, even after multiple applications.

Throw in a bit of coconut...
I added some coconut essential oil to this gallon of unscented sunscreen. You would be hard pressed to not think this was one of the more expensive brands with that luscious smell of coconut. Easy to apply, rubs in nicely, and provides adequate sun protection.

Great but stings the eyes
Fantastic bulk sunscreen, a little greasy, DO NOT PUT IT ON YOUR FACE. It’ll burn the Jesus right out of your eye balls.

It really, really, really isn't greasy, chalky, or scented
Truly excellent, including for its price point, since we dunk the kids in it by the gallon. Not at all greasy, goes on like a lotion (i.e., doesn't require rubbing in), dries in a few minutes to a matte finish. Truly unscented, and water-resistant. The water resistance seems to work well when our kids are in the pool and lake in the summer, or when hubby is sweating in the garden, although you still need to reapply every few hours. Leaves zero white residue. It's really that good.

Great sunscreen!
I use this sunscreen for my in home daycare. It's smooth and effective, and I appreciate that it's reef safe even though we're just in my backyard. It also rubs in easily and doesn't leave a white cast on darker skin.

This is has been my go-to sunscreen for years, but I've been having problems
I've been using versions of this SPF 50 sunscreen for over 10 years, in the mountains and around town. Recent reformulations to make it more eco-friendly and to reduce potential health problems have unfortunately created some other problems for me.1) It burns my eyes. I have to be extra careful to not apply it anywhere where sweat might get it into my eyes.2) The emulsion is not as stable. I've had a 1 quart bottle around for over a year, and it's separated. I can mix it up with some success, but don't know if it's still effective. It does seem to be worse than ever with regards to burning my eyes, so I'm going to have to throw it out.I went for a hike yesterday, and after 4 hours I could barely keep my eyes open. It felt like snow blindness. My friend had to drive us home in my car. A day later my eyes are still aching a little. This is unacceptable. I'm sadly going to have to look for a different brand.**********Below is my original review, applies to older versions (which contain some more questionable sunscreen ingredients:This is the best sunscreen I've ever used. I got it specifically for alpine mountaineering, where I can end up in the sun for long days at high altitudes. I'm a pale-face and will be destroyed by just half an hour in the sun at 12,000 feet ... so I need something good. This stuff works very well, stays on better than anything I've used when sweating, doesn't irritate my skin or smell like perfume, doesn't make me break out, and doesn't make me overheat (I've used some sun screens that seem to completely block sweat glands ... yikes). Why only 4 stars? They reformulated it in recent years, to meet the Broad-Spectrum requirements. This is a good thing. But the new formula stings my eyes much more than the old one. It's not awful ... not the blinding burn that I've gotten from some sun screens. And it's a fair tradeoff for the added protection. But I'd love it if they could tweak the formula to make it a bit more eye-friendly. If there's any sunscreen on my forehead, sweat will eventually ooze it into my eyes. And I sometimes get it into my eyes from my hands when rubbing an itch. So just be aware. It's not more irritating than most sunscreens ... just more than it used to be.Some people do find it irritating on their skin. My girlfriend is sensitive to most cosmetic products and sun screens ... I think she has a paraben sensitivity. If you suspect you're similar, try a smaller size first. Here's the big caveat. It applies to all sun screens. They are not magic. You can't put it on in the morning and forget about it. As good as this stuff is, it will sweat off and it will rub off. And it will not work as promised unless you use it generously and thoroughly. I goop it on and pay a lot of attention to not missing spots. And try to put it on again every two hours while exercising. In the mountains I don't have a lot of exposed skin, so it's not a big deal. If you're a surfer, you will go through a lot of these big bottles. The only times I get burned now are when I'm sloppy ... either missing patches of skin, or forgetting to reapply early enough.Edited to add: The big pump bottle's handy. I keep it at home for daily use. For bringing the sunscreen on trips, I don't buy smaller sizes; I just get the small plastic squeeze bottles that are made for energy gels and fill them from the pump. Reusable and economical. The bottles are translucent, so when filled with this stuff they'll be obviously white. You won't likely swallow a swig of sunscreen by mistake.Edited again: they've completely reformulated it for 2018. I haven't tried the new version. I'm waiting for a reply to my email asking what / why they did.
