Huge upgrade over DVD!!!
This remaster of Cyber City Oedo on blu-ray is a significant improvement from the dvd that I own. This anime is one of the best examples of the golden age of anime aka 90’s anime! Directed by the acclaimed Yoshiaki Kawajiri this is classic Kawajiri in his prime! The blu-ray transfer sourced from a new master of the anime is a fantastic step up from the dvd that I own with clean line art and sharp imagery all around. The colors are vibrant and pop off the screen. There are some specks of dirt on this new transfer from Discotek but these are few and far between and expected from a source that is now 30 years old! The bonus features included are most welcome and informative and the steelbook case is icing on the cake! All in all a great effort by Discotek, highly recommended!

Gurl…
I knew I was going to like this anime based off of the brief little summary and the animation style. The Blu-ray itself is composed of three separate stories following all three of the convicts/cyber police. It’s funny, well drawn, a little cheesy at moments but in a good way… And you absolutely cannot beat this animation style. If you like action, and silly humor… Then you will absolutely love this Blu-ray.

Just awesome steelbook
I love the anime style when this was made. So many great anime came out during those years. Love the characters and the sci-fi punk theme. I also own the DVD and this release is awesome. Beautiful steelbook, just perfect. They did a great job with the picture and sound. Not perfect but I’m more than satisfied.

Not compatible with the European PlayStation Blu-ray player
Everything is in the title. That’s really stupid to continue to make Blu-ray Discs which are not compatible with other zones

Yoshiaki Kawajiri You Genius
Cyber City Oedo 808 is a 3 Episode OVA directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri of Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust and Ninja Scroll fame. Each episode focus on a single member of the squad, hardened criminals, given freedom to pay off their debt by working for the Police.First and foremost, the art design is to die for. I dunno what happened to anime down the road but it seems like the anime from the 80s or 90s felt and looked more futuristic than anything on the air today (at least in my opinion).Second, I thought Discotek did an amazing job in bringing this to HD. Everything looks crisp and clean while keeping that cell shaded anime look so well. If you have a great TV, I think it will look fantastic. The episodes themselves are very standard police affair with the final episode being a beautiful nod/throwback to Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust but because its a Yoshiaki Kawajiri joint, they are presented with such style that elevates it into pure visual art.I know I am going on and on about how beautiful this OVA is but really, its some of the coolest shit I Have ever seen. I wish current anime had even an ounce of style that is present in just one frame of Cyber City Oedo 808. Please buy it on Blu-ray and prepared to be wowed. Its only flaw is that it had only 3 Episodes.
