Can these be trimmed successfully?

Can I use this with any shoe or should I still look for arch support in the shoes that I purchase?

Help with the trimming process. Insole too wide or shoe too narrow? I bought these because it has positive reviews, but when I got them I see that they are huge, the problem is not the length, it's that they seem to be a little wide for my shoes, should I trim some of the arch support or get used to it?
