A knife and EDC gear enthusiast thinks this is great.
Please throw away that gas station knife before you get hurt and just buy this one. It's actually amazing how good this knife is for the amount of money asked for it.It's a nice design. The crossbar lock isn't all stiff like some of the cheaper attempts. The action is good, easy to manipulate. Doesn't feel cheap in the slightest. The D2 steel has a good heat treat and the usually expected edge retention considering that steel. To be honest I can't tell if the scales are G10 or not. I think they aren't so that's a good sign as to the feel of the handle.Just for perspective. I had this knife sitting out when I received my Hogue Deka in Magnacut with the Poly scales. The hundred something dollar Hogue felt significantly cheaper and I was a bit irritated as to why my $25 knife felt like better quality. It's a good one. Recommend

Fantastic action and edge!
Great knife and far better than I expected. This thing is literally Benchmade Bugout action and appearance but with a hefty weight. The weight I like tho. It's been on float trips with me needing no maintenance however I did lay the edge back and it's maintained sharp edge.

Great value in a well made and sharp every-day carry pocket knife
This is my 2nd free-tiger knife. They are well priced, come sharp and are easily sharpened, and have a nifty "pull to flip open" release which I find very convenient for one-handed opening. The knife is quite basic, but that is what I wanted. No need for fancy engravings etc. Just a good every-day-carry knife that is dependable.

The laast knife you will buy
It is that GOOD! Cross-bar lock (axis lock?), (D-2 ?) sharp steel blade, G-10 handle, works like a charm and is very sharp, right out of the box. What more could you ask for? BTW, no "axis-lock thumb" coming from having to break it in, not needed, its smooth as it can be right out of the box. Did I mention, its a bargain? It arrives well broken in, that is what makes it so special. The "fidget factor" is very high. I'll concede that spring stiffness just may be the luck of the draw, but other reviews support the value of this knife.

Competitive with a Benchmade
WOW! I’m impressed. This may be Blasphemy but I’m going to say it anyway. This is almost as good as my Benchmade Griptilian. If the Griptilian (GR) scores 100, then the Free Tiger (FT) is easily a 93! Let me explain. This is not an apple to oranges comparison as they share many characteristics. They are both unassisted flippers with the Axis lock. They are just about the same size and weight with the GR being just a little longer and heavier. They are both EDCs with clips. The secondary means of opening are a thumb stud on the FT and a Spidey hole on the GR. These both work well with practice. You can both open and close both knives with just the axis lock. The lock on the GR is a bit easier to open. Most people when they first get an axis lock knife, they complain it is hard to open. That is likely because they are just using their thumb. Use your forefinger on the underneath axis stud along with your thumb on top and it will open effortlessly. The pivot on the GR is better due to the presence of large bronze washers but the FT pivot is smooth and free of any grittiness. The scales on the FT are plain Jane G-10 with minimal sculpting. The G-10 scales on the GR are smooth and comfy. So how can the FT be 1/8 the cost of the GR? Cost saving with the FT is reflected in the lack of any jimping and the liners are not skeletonized. The blade is D-2 which certainly is cheaper than SV30. However, my experience is that D-2 is a decent mid-level steel. Lastly, you don’t get the status of owning a Benchmade. About that, just remember there is no real difference between a Rolex and a Timex if you just want the correct time.

Feels like a cheapo benchmade
I recently bought a new high end knife sharpener, and a bunch of cheap flippers to practice with before I sharpened my nicer knives. For comparison of hand size, I wear a men's L glove. My EDC is a Benchmade Mini Crooked River.Let's cut to the chase, this knife feels like a cheapo benchmade knockoff. The studs on the axis lock and blade are just off. They are rounded, which makes it hard to use with my thumb. The thumb stud on the blad is just slightly too close to the handle, making it harder to use. The axis lock spring is a little too stiff. Basically, this guy is missing the fit and finish of the $200+ knife I'm used to.The deep carry clip is non-reversible and hits my pinky in a weird way when holding the knife. Other than that, the knife feels nice in my hand. The weight of the knife feels right to me.The open/close action overall feels smooth. The knife passes the thumb nail stick sharpness test out of the box.

Great knife for the money
Best bang for your buck. Comes with a razor edge out of the box. Super clean with great action. A little hefty compared to benchmade bu- out but still great edc knife.
