On the most recent tablets from companies such as Samsung they have eliminated the presence of the phone jack that you would use to attach your earbuds/a speaker/earphones. So you have three choices. You can listen using the built in speakers, you can use Bluetooth interface earbuds that have no wires or you can buy one of these adapters. This is my choice for dealing with the problem. I simply prefer to use corded earbuds/earphones. You plug this adapter into the USB-C port and it provides a connection for earbuds and an additional USB-C port. You do not need to do anything with settings, you simply plug this adapter in and it works perfectly.

I maintain a music collection on my cell phone that I wanted to play while on a recent road trip. My vehicle audio system doesn't support Bluetooth but does provide a standard audio auxiliary port to connect a device directly to the sound system. I needed a USB C to 3.5mm adapter to connect to phone, but also needed the adapter to allow for charging simultaneously so that my battery was fully charged when arriving at final destination (I have an older phone/battery that depletes significantly with audio and navigation functions on full-time). I searched and read reviews of several solutions, but I decided to try this adapter based on positive reviews, functionality, and it appeared to be made with sturdy materials. Easy plug-n-play with only issue being that I had to turn up the volume on both the phone and radio to get sound through the speakers (not a major issue but noteworthy). Sound quality appears to be good. Functions exactly as I had hoped. Sound is not quite as good as when I play CD's through system, but at least as good as the radio and that could be impacted by the audio file format I used to save the audio files.

It works great! It sounds pretty good and charges fast, it doesnt work with USB Audio Player Pro unfortunately, but I have higher end dongle for that anyway. It does buzz when hooked up to an amplified source when its not plugged into the phone so there is some noise, but I just turn off the source. I have had two of these for 9 months and they both still work great without any problems, I haven't had any disconnections or charging issues. I use this with Tidal which has the best support for USB Audio, Tidal prompts for permission to use USB Audio which doesn't happen with other Music Apps and that sometimes leads to quirky problems.

This does, indeed, charge my phone and let me listen with wired headphones at the same time, which is what I wanted. The charger port does fast charge my phone, if the charger I'm using is fast charge, which I am very happy about. (Google pixel 6 for reference )Now for the quirks. It randomly disconnects from my device while I'm in a call/listening to music. I use my phone for music almost daily for several hours a day, and will reliably have at least one disconnect a day, if not several. I will have to re-seat the device to make it work again. If I am listening to just music then plug the charger in, it will pause my music and not have any audio input while it "thinks". I'm not sure if this is just what these devices do or if this is exclusive to this device. It also will get "crackly" if bumped while using. It's not my headset, as I use this headset with other devices like my PC or with different usbc-aux adapters and have no issues.If you're looking for something that does what you want and don't mind a lil quirkyness, then this does what it needs to at a decent price.

*Update: okay, so i was originally on the fence with this as one out of two worked great. (See below review.) However, since posting this the first one I bought has started messing up. It will just disconnect at random. Not the cord itself, they stay connected just fine. It will stop playing music and stop charging. I have to unplug it and plug it back it to make it work again and depending on the day is for how long. The other day I unplugged the charging side and it stayed on for about 30 minutes before cutting off again. On my 20 minute drive home today i had to do this 3 times and finally said the heck with it a mile from home. Not only is this annoying, but unsafe as I have to keep messing with it while driving to get it to play. I will be buying a differnt brand and recommending to everyone I know to stay away from this one. Even on sale it is not worth the money or effort.Would normally give this 5 stars. However, the second one is not good. I order one of these for the vehicle that I drive. It worked great! Charges my phone while allowing me to listen to my music play list. (Our vehicles do not have Bluetooth capabilities.) It worked so great that I decided that it was worth it to buy one for both of our vehicles. The second one I ordered is not good. It will allow me to play music through the car, but not charge. It over heats and causes my phone to get hot at the charging port to the point it feels like it will catch fire. I only have a 15-20 minute drive to work so using it on a long drive would definitely be out of the question. Will not be buying a third nor can I recommend this brand.
