Update 1/3/16 Still love this mug!
This mug is now my favorite cooking utensil in my vast array of microwave utensils. I have now been using this mug for just about every thing I heat and reheat in the microwave oven. Leftover vegetables, stews, soft boiled and scrambled eggs and just boiling water. This cup is also great for making instant oatmeal, hot chocolate and instant anything. I found that it's better to take your cup of soup out of the styrofoam cup, put it in this cup, fill with water and microwave for 3 to 4 minutes and let it stand. I also use it for cold canned and jar fruit, cold cereals and snacks. It's just a damn good mug. I have used it every day and there is no sign of wear and tear. I hand wash all my dishes so I can't verify it being dishwasher safe. I keep reading reviews stating the mug was purchased for leak proof heating and as a travel convenient mug. I have been over the description a few times and have never seen the claim that it is leak proof. As far as travel to the office or whatever, purchase one specifically for the office if there is a microwave available. As far as other travel? Even the so called made to be leak proof mugs leak in my experience. Sisters has a website you should check out. No where on that site does it claim any of their microwave products are leak proof or designed for travel purposes. I think the fact that there is a vent to allow steam to escape would indicate this mug isn't leak proof. By the way, I just used the mug to make a Vinegarette by shaking the mug and it did leak at the vent but that was my mistake. Excellent Excellent!I've been looking for a microwave mug for awhile locally for some time. I'm a widower who can cook well but on occasions a nice bowl of soup, the large 18 oz. size, hits the spot and is a pretty good meal to boot. I have been using a larger bowl with a plastic wrap to cover and heating it in a couple of intervals to heat through. Problems always arose when removing the wrap as the stuff gets like molten lava and transporting to the table or wherever the contents spilled. Then came along this Amazon suggested item. For the pride and from previous experience with this manufacturer I decided to take a chance and ordered the mug. Surprise! It was delivered the following day instead of the Prime two day delivery time. Removing the plastic and labels I washed and dried the item and set it out to dry. That night I decided to give it a try with a can of Chunky New England Clam Chowder. The mug took the entire can with a little space left over. Put the lid on, snapped the lid tight using the three locks and opened the steam vent. Set the microwave on high for three minutes on the turntable. At the end of those minutes I expected to have to remove the lid and as usual stir the soup and to heat another couple of minutes. I didn't have to. I don't know if it's the design or what but the soup was heated through. Place the top back on and moved to the table along with a green salad and crackers. I consumed the salad first then removed the lid to find the soup still steaming. Great!I don't believe the mug is designed for travel in an auto or other moving vehicles. While washing the mug I filled it with soapy water with the locked lid on and did notice some leakage. I plan to order another mug soon and to experiment with other foods to get the best use of the mug.I paid full retail for the mug and received no financial benefits.

Perfect size and flat bottom
I'm so happy that I found this. The cup doesn't have a fat rim, so it is easy to drink from. The lid fits tight.

Perfect for work
My boss has a couple of these, so I had to get one after melting yet another plastic container in the office microwave. The Sistema Microwave Soup Mug is perfect for those days when you don't want to pack a lunch but you know you have a "emergency" can of soup in your desk. It's big enough to hold a full can of Progresso soup, and the snap-on lid with vent means no muss, no fuss in the microwave. The soup gets hot, but the handle does not so it makes it easy to carry without burning yourself. Just be careful when you remove the lid so you don't get a face full of steam. The mug washes up easily and does not retain the smell of whatever was cooked in it. I liked it so much, I bought three.

Great Soup Mug for the Microwave
Probably one of the greatest inventions made for soup/stew heating! Unbreakable and microwave safe plastic at that and well thought out designed made in New Zealand. I have a collection of these cooking plastics that only I have access to it and I keep nearby in case one of my relatives brings me some homemade soup or stews. The cover of this soup mug has a built-in vent that you can push in or out and prevents this mug from exploding inside the microwave if you're heating. I love this soup mug because it never heats up to the touch while it's really boiling the soup your heating! Ebe the handles don't heat up but fairly warm to the touch. A highly recommended soup mug...

Very convenient
This is great for the microwave. So lightweight and easy to eat from. I use it daily and highly recommend. I use it to store soup, etc in the fridge. I'm not sure it is as air tight as a tupperware in that it could be turned upside down, but works great for my purposes. Keeps the smell in the container and haven't noticed any fridge odors/tastes getting in, even after several days in the fridge.

Simple, sturdy, useful for travel
These cups are very useful while traveling. Being lightweight but sturdy, easily sealed, and microwavable are the primary benefits. We just bought two more in different colors, and now have a total of three. We did not get both of the colors we thought we ordered, but at least we still have 3 different colors. We have used them in hotel rooms to microwave leftovers, or heat water for tea. I have also used an immersion heater to heat water (carefully!) for use in a portable espresso device. They are just big enough for a small immersion heater with its cord to fit in the mug without trouble. The top is not designed to be left on while drinking beverages, but I don't use them as travel mugs. We have one for each carry-on suitcase. The same brand makes square boxes that are even more useful for storage and heating of leftovers.
