Imperium CV280 Quiet and Powerful Up To 3500 sq ft. Central Vacuum Power Unit

Have used this for almost 2 years now.Great workhorse. Easy to install and very easy and clean bag changes.I bought the reducers to use regular schedule 40 PVC pipe. Its a very good idea.

I bought the CV280 to replace a 20 year old, 2 motor Filtex central vac power unit. Our old unit was awesome, the suction was unbelievable and I was expecting to have a hard time replacing it with something affordable but just as powerful. I did tons of research online and decided on the Imperium CV280. Really, it sounded too good to be true for the price. Boy was I wrong, it not only lived up to my expectations, but surpassed them!! This thing is powerful!! We have a 2000 sq.ft home and this unit has more than enough power. It almost has too much! The brush attachment almost gets stuck to the floor the suction is so strong. My mother-in-law just built a house and bought a $500 Hoover central vac and it barely works better than her broom. This is a great product at an amazing price!!Update: Almost 8 years later and still works like a dream. Never had a problem with it. Highly recommend!

Great replacement for my dead Nutone. Stronger motor, very simple bag replacement.The only dislike: The "garage inlet" has to be installed separately. The instructions are mediocre. They should tell you to wire up the garage inlet with short wire stubs over a table.,The contact fingers and their tiny springs are likely to fall out when you are connecting the low-voltage activator wires.Update: Motor dead after 5 years. First it started sounding hig pitched, like an angry tiefighter. The relay still clicks but motor does not run. I have to take it apart to troubleshoot, see if I can get a new motor for it or what... The previous Nutone lasted 17years, so this is disappointing.

I ordered this item on line and had some questions. The seller contacted me very quickly by email and answered my questions. When the unit arrived it was packed very well and installed very easily. The unit has more power (suction) than the Beam unit it replaced. I liked it.It's been several weeks now since I installed the unit, and it is still working great. I have no complaints.

We have owned an Imperium 300 for more than a year.We bought the recommended attachments separately also from Central vac Store. The power brush head attachment is awesome it is so low it goes under beds, furniture etc.The vac unit is also very reliable and Central Vac store answered all our questions - I had no clue what gauge wire was required for the remote wand control which switches the unit on and off from the wand. 18 gauge double strand; they had it in stock so does amazon and Radio shack in case you need it also.Place order here and call them they will support you all the way.Tip: buy extra bags with the unit stock up - otherwise S&H is $8 at Central Vac - kinda high - but these bags can last months each. Unless you have kids like us and are vacuuming up paper clipping this and that. they also had a hepa, reusable, washable vac bag but it has disappeared - I guess they don't sell it anymore.Get recommended attachments from Central vac - they will give you good recommendations. Get the 35 ft hose - don't buy the hose sleeve; we got one but never used it.If you've never owned a central vac, do get one you will never be without one. worth every penny.. It is healthy; all the fine dust etc which pass thru the filters are vented outside thru the discharge vent - whereas regular vacs blow it right back in our house - result being the most fine micro particles - the most unhealthy - accumulate in the house month after month, year after year.
