Printer running well again

I got a msge on my Canon GSX6050 that the Black Ink had run out, no warning that it was getting low but I could see the level on the tank was low so ordered more ink in readiness.What I wasnt prepared for was, having topped up the ink I got a warning msge that said replace the Maintenance Cartridge, I didnt have one of these so contacted Canon who told me there was no overide even a short term one until I could obtain the cartridge.There were no suppliers locally so I ordered from Amazon who promised next day delivery and sure enough it arrived next day !It was a life saver, even Canon couldnt supply it that quick. I would add that I ordered 2 so I'm ready next time.

I have no idea what these things do, but the printer tells you when it is reaching the end of life, and sometimes that is not even a complete ink cycle! Easy to replace, you need to keep a spare available as the printer will just stop if it runs out of capacity.
