Tactical Research is a leading supplier of tactical boots, patrol boots, and duty boots for many different kinds of servicepeople. Whether you work in law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), private security, or some other profession, start your search for tactical boots and tactical gear with the company that combines cutting-edge technology with over a century of experience making footwear. The 8 inch (8 in) men's Khyber side zip waterproof tactical boot is a lightweight hybrid boot designed for military, police force, and emergency medical services personnel looking for a boot that provides tactical mobility and protection from rain, mud, and blood-borne pathogens (BBP). The cattlehide leather and nylon fabric upper allows the foot to breathe without sacrificing durability. A moisture-wicking mesh liner helps keep feet dry and wick away sweat. An orthotic insole and ample ankle support provide comfort and help prevent injury. And finally, a Vibram Ibex low-profile outsole with angled lugs reduces the weight of the boot and provides multidirectional traction for quick changes in direction and movement over rough terrain. In attractive black, the Khyber is designed for servicepeople but also makes a great all-purpose hot-weather men's work boot no matter your profession. So whether you're a police officer, a first responder, a militia member, or a crossing guard, the Khyber is the durable, comfortable, breathable, and waterproof light tactical boot to fit your needs.

Tactical and looks damn good!
This is my first review even though I've purchased several variations of these boots. Just going by looks - the way the pieces were designed and stitched together, the overall shape of the boot - it really is a beautiful pair of boots. Even the design of the deep treads of the Vibram - pronounced vee-bram- soles - feels like someone really put in a lot of thought and effort to design this footwear. The side zipper holds well and it zips and unzips very easily, thus, allowing you to get in and out of these boots as quickly as you like. The insoles are very comfortable, good for walking long periods of time. The fit of the feet, too, is very comfortable and the ankles feel secure and safe from sprains. The material is flexible and feels good. Also, the boots are true to size (although you may want to consider going 1/2 size up for the waterproof models). The black ones go well with a white shirt and black suit fashion for events that require you to be formally dressed and on your feet for long stretches of time - the boots don't look clunky at all, they really are sleek. They also go well with jeans and, of course, tactical pants. They're good for walking, route marches, hiking on dirt or even muddy paths, and in fight or flight situations.

Bang for buck
Grip is great on wet conditions ,gravel ,concrete , slippery chemicals surfaces .The reviews about poor build quality are from people that don’t understand the way to use these style boots. These are not safety toe or construction boots they are duty boots for patrol style work.On my feet 8 hours a day , more ideal for walking or fast paced short movements, running isn’t bad in these however more comfortable when not running.Ease of use its functional. They are flexible and easy to slip on and off .Recommend zipper first then adjusting laces to fit then only zipper use.Waterproofness is puddle approved and rain is nothing for these.5 stars for value because under 200$ easily replaceable when they wear out .

Very good so far.
Alright so quality on these boots are very good break in period is about 3-4 day of wearing them after that very comfortable. Fits great to your size mine was a 10 1/2 and fits on the dot easy to slip on and off when you found the sweet spot after tied. Now the zipper I’d say it built tough alittle tough on the fingers but I’m not worried about it it will definitely hold up. Now I give it a 4 stars because of the fact they didn’t see snow yet but as a duty rating they get a 5 so far now waiting to see how they hold up in Pennsylvania winters. They are water proof and very good at keeping your feet warm and dry now saying that might be to hot for you southern guys in those high heat places. One more thing I thought these would be heavy-ish they are actually pretty light. So Duty rating for police work 5/5Winter rating ?/5Water and rain 5/5Comfortably 4/5

Comfortable and functional!
Cannot say enough good things about these boots. I work 60-90 hours a week on my feet as a LEO and have put these boots through hell and back. Solid support (arch and ankle) comfortable and easy to run/ sprint in. My first pair would have lasted two years but the pair was badly burned in a fire. Even so they protected my feet well and protected from any burns (not fire proof but good to note)! Immediately repurchased and will continue to use.

NNY Approved
I ordered these as a gift for my husband who is a NYS CO. He's tried a few different brands and was always complaining of leaking boots, sore feet, no grip. He does doubles, so 16+ hours in these boots at a time. We live in Northern NY( think Canadian border) so there's a broad spectrum for our weather pattern. Pouring rain, ice, humidity, snow.Ice- nothing grips ice, but these do better than most to keep slipping minimalRain/standing water- in puddles and rain (and some nasty incidents on the dorms), these have kept his feet dry. If the material on the tongue gets really wet, you'll feel it but thats about itSnow- these are warm boots. They keep him dry, have good traction in snow and keep him warm with a normal sock on. With snow comes the dreaded salt. It eats and corrodes everything. Most zipper boots fail in winter because of salt. The zipper on these boots has held up to almost daily use, no matter how dirty or if salt has gotten in them. That was a shock. It makes it so much easier to take them off. These boots are not breathing boots. Summer in them is a bit of a beast but he deals with it for for comfort and waterproof aspect. In his 12+ years in the prisons, the past year is the first year he hasnt gritted his teeth taking his boots off. His feet aren't sore, the ankle supports don't rub him raw. Now, this is from a CO stand point. That means lots of walking, standing for hours, some sprinting.Comfort- we put in an aftermarket insole after a few months but other than that, he says they're comfortable even at the end of a long shift. No more coming home in pain with wet feet and sore ankles or calves because of junk boots. After a year of using these boots, there's one small split on the side. It doesn't allow water in but it's there. They clean up nice still and the tread is still good. Pictures show before and after cleaning. I will be buying him another Belleville set that's better for summer, but this brand has won our loyalty.

Inferior zipper
Well it's 11 months later, and the zipper and the velcro have failed on both boots, the zippers at about 7 months, if they could put a durable zipper and a longer strap, or a strap half way down the zipper for zipper support this could be the best boot on the market. They are extremely comfortable and durable except the previously mentioned, virtually no break in period. Buying new boots today, but not repurchasing these, at what I paid $170 they should last far longer than7 months, might as well buy cheaper boots, they are certainly going to last that long also.
