I purchased this before my first trip to Big Sur, Monterey, and Carmel. My sister and I enjoyed reading through and marking places of interest during our trip. Great book!

I bought this is a going away gift for my friend relocation to this area. I skimmed it before I gave it away and it looks fantastic. I think she will really appreciate the restaurant descriptions. I thought the "Background" section in the back was really helpful in regard to customs and culture in this area. For example, the Background section includes telling you about poison oak and ticks. It's impossible to Google every single question about the Monterey area, especially when you don't even know what to ask about. This book gives you a huge headstart.

This book is easy to read and has lots of good info.
