Q: how do you use these to measure ozone in air? Hold them up, place them in a container, etc and will sunlight cause any problems?

These papers only need to be exposed to the ambient air. Do not place them in direct sunlight as this gives an artificially high reading for Ozone

Q: Can i use these strips to test an air purifier that uses negative ions to clean the air & see if it leaks ozone? How far do I place from air vents?

These strips can be used indoors, however, they should not be placed near air vents. The strips should be protected from wind or air forced through a vent.

Q: Do these have an expiration date? What's the shelf life?

Yes -- I purchased this earlier this year, and the expiration date is 5/31/2020, so it looks like it is good for about a year.
