Pennington Smart Seed Northeast Grass Mix 3 lb

Since discovering Pennington seed, it is all I use to regrow areas that I had to dethatch or dead areas from heavy foot traffic. My grass gets full sun and the grass seed I used to use was prone to burnt roots. Pennington seed germinates quickly and given adequate water I have no bald spots and really pretty grass all spring and summer. The Northeast blend works perfectly for the weather in this region.

The mix works better than others I've tried growing in hard clayish soil. Still not perfect, it is having difficulty growing in other areas. I will order this again.

I bought three bags of the product put it down after I thached the lawn. Watered the lawn everyday and the seeds did not germinate after 4 weeks. I contacted the company and gave them the information that they requested and I haven't heard from them since. The seeds were a year old. I would not recommend this product at all.Although the original seed did not germinate, customer service came through and reimbursed me for the bad seed. This brought the overall rating to a 4.

Although the price is high this seed is well worth the money. It fills in thick. It germinates in about 9 days (you need to keep it constantly wet). I won't buy another brand again.

Following all instructions for lawn prep and seeding and daily watering and am hugely disappointed in this seed. It just is not good. Let’s hope the company stands behind it’s guaranteed promise on the bag as it grows mostly weeds with actual grass very sparse.

its a fair product

I purchased 3-20 pound bags of this mix to overseed my yard in CT this fall. I also had a big round spot that I’d replaced a bush that had become too gangly and was growing too aggressively. I spread the seed in this spot and watered it per the directions. I didn’t overwater it but I’ve heard it’s important to keep the seed wet while it germinates. This seed was sprouting and filled in very quickly. The photo from a distance is on day 7, the other one is around day 5. Have to keep it wet, I’d water it with a sprinkler about 15 minutes 3 x per day. Zero weeds coming up, this is the only grass seed I’ll use now.

As advertised, started seeing grass quickly after spreading.
