Q: Can i put a splitter on the output and listen to the audio with headphones?

Not really. I used two different types of splitters in the output on this. I could barely hear anything.I am returning this item because I thought I could use it to monitor audio on my Sony A6300 (camera doesn't have a headphone jack).

well you would need a adapter for around 5 dollars that turns a headphone output into a 3.5 input
