Awesome bilge blower, works great.
This marine bilge blower works great. I installed this in my boat last season without a hitch, and it has worked as expected since. The unit is pretty quiet while operating, I sometimes have to verify that it is working by opening the bilge hatch. The installation of this bilge blower was simple. All you have to do is connect a positive 12v DC source (mine is on a switch) to the red wire, and then connect the black wire to the battery's negative terminal, or another ground source. Then you can run ducting from the unit to a vent, to rid your bilge of gas fumes. In my case, I already had an intake and exhaust cowl for venting the bilge on my boat, but the bilge only vented properly while the boat was underway. I just positioned this blower near the exhaust cowl on my boat..The unit is constructed of a standard plastic material. It seems to be well made, and under normal conditions, I'm sure it will hold up just fine.If you find a use for this unit inside of your home (as some reviewers have), you will also need an "AC to DC power converter," which you can find here on Amazon.Hope this helps.

Using as an inline duct fan, incredible airflow, easy to install, well-built
I am using the Rule 240 blower as an inline booster fan for our restroom's exhaust fan. I installed it in the attic, suspended using straps and the support from the ducting. The reason I did that was to isolate the vibration of the blower from the struts. If I directly attached it, the vibration is enough to create a humming noise throughout the whole house. With the straps, the fan is not audible. That noise, now isolated, is actually a testament to the amount of air that is moved through this fan. I use the 12v 6a Adapter Power Supply for LCD Monitor with Power Cord as the power supply to power it, and it has been working great so far. The blower is switched by the same wall switch hooked up to the exhaust fan. Using this power supply, since it is a switched mode one, there is a small delay in turning on the blower; and that's when things get interesting. As we flipped the switch, the exhaust fan turned on right away and would have the same noise as it did before (it's a low-cost Broan). But as soon as the blower fan started, we could hear a "swish", and the Broan fan is now almost quiet, leaving the blower fan doing all the work. As an engineer, this is easy to understand, since the blower fan has created a very low pressure zone for the Broan exhaust fan, so it is under very little stress. The rated spec of the blower gives about 3 times the airflow of the Broan exhaust fan, and the result is consistent with that.I tested the air flow from under the closed bathroom door as well, to see what the air flow rate has changed. With the blower fan, it almost feels like there is a gush of air coming in from outside the bathroom. The best part was the "hot shower test". In the past, with only the Broan exhaust fan running, there would still be a lingering mist in the bathroom after a 5-minute (we are green) shower. Now? Nothing. No fogging in the mirror, and if I observed it during the shower, I could see the mist being sucked up at a really high rate. Given that this is a bilge pump, I also have a lot of confidence that the moisture is not going to change its reliability, and it's perfect for the purpose.Overall, I am extremely happy with the purchase. It solves the air circulation and ventilation problem in our upstairs bathroom AND corridor (yes, it sucks that much air). I recommend it.

Amazing high-CFM blower for a reasonable price
Wow, this is an amazing little blower. I purchased this for a home project to provide ventilation to a room that has inadequate air movement. The biggest "con" to this device is noise level. I mounted mine on wood stud and used some isolation bushings to try to cut down the vibration, but it still makes quite the racket. Dialing back the voltage (and RPM) by 10-15% does seem to help considerably with probably similar reductions in air flow.My biggest concern is about the long-term lifetime of the product since my application will use it 12-18 hours a day.

Rule 240 with AC to DC power supply (converter)
This fan / bilge blower works great. Moves a lot of air. Runs at 4.5amps. BUT DO NOT buy the 12v 6a Power Supply for LCD monitor, recommended in other reviews, if you want to run this off an AC-to-DC power supply. It will not work. It will simply pulse on and off. I bought the 12v 7a Power Supply for LCD monitor also thinking the 6a wasn't enough. Did not work either. Fan simply pulses on / off.BUY one of these universal regulated power supplies for $25 or less. http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Regulated-Switching-Computer-Project/dp/B00D7CWSCG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1411779925&sr=8-2&keywords=12v+360+watt+led+power+supply. This is the 12v 30A version. You could probably buy the 10A version but the price difference isn't much. You connect a 16/3 extension cord replacement from Home Depot with its Black (Live), White (Neutral), and Green (Ground) wires to the 110 screws on this power supply. The remaining screws produce 12V positive and negative as labeled. And you can adjust voltage up or down from the 12v produced if you need to. Check these out on YouTube too. If you want to be fancy you can put a switch in 12v line and run it off this power supply or off a battery.

Quiet
Install was a pain but that because of were this goes on my boat. It was plug and play. Some reviews said it loud. Once installed on my 20” boat I flipped my switch with my engine hatch open and though it was bad from stock because I didn’t hear it. Works fine!!!

Strong blower!
Like others have said, this blower blows! Moves lots of air, and is very loud. Once mounted inside the ducts, like typical usage, it was much quieter.I use it to boost a dryer vent line, and has so far survived the heat and humidity. I'll update if it fails.Update Feb. 9, 2014: After working for exactly 2 years in a dryer vent line, the motor has failed. It spins, but with a fraction of it's original speed. Based on 10 hours of drying time per week, I estimate it's service life to be around 1000 hours. I would definitely buy this again.Update Dec. 20, 2014: The second one has failed after 10 months. I've replaced it with the cheaper and quieter Attwood blower.
