Very sharp out of the box. A minute of stropping on cardboard made it scary sharp. Handle comfortable, no hot spots, grippy but not tacky, okay with wet hands. Blade flexible, probably not easily broken. I'm not in Special Ops. I don't need a heavy pry bar or glass breaker. To cut firewood I use an axe, or just stomp on branches till they split. The "batoners" on Facebook never heard the proverb: "A dull knife can be sharpened, but a broken knife is junk." And if I were a survivalist, my first thought wouldn't be how to break a tool I couldn't replace.I don't want to impress fancy guests, so I don't need a mirror finish that scratches, a hardwood handle that warps when exposed to water, or screws or rivets to come loose or get lost.I just need a light knife that's easy to sharpen, in order to open letters and packages, break down boxes, cut cord, and do other household chores. That says a lot.

Excellent for the money. This is true of CS knives in general This is not a first rate knife , but it's solidly made with good steel and a wicked sharp edge. It has a simple flat grind. IMO, a boning knife needs a convex grind so that it can run along a bone without scraping it. If you know how to sharpen, that shouldn't be hard to modify. Either way,m This is a great tool to have in your kitchen and for the money it's a very good deal.

What more can be said about CS products other than the same things that have been said multiple time before. Yes the steel is 4116 and not a higher cost and quality knife or cutlery steel. But that is what CS does well. The cost of this knife in relationship to the functionality and efficacy You would be hard pressed to spend $12 on anything else and get near the quality in a tool.

We have the kitchen set and other Cold Steel knives. Great product for the price. And the price here is way less than I've paid before from a different supplier, AND included Free shipping. + the shipping was quick. So 5 Stars all around !This was bought as a gift.

A very sharp blade and a great feeling knife for the price point would definitely buy again and recommend to a friend or family member. The surface of the handle allows you to have a good grip and because of its blade sharpness and the ergonomics of the handle my hand does not get tired from deboning multiple chickens.
