7 out of 5 Stars to make up for the 1 Star reviews saying it doesn't include battery...
Very nice simple jigsaw. I have a nice older corded Skil jigsaw, but wanted something that didn't have a power cord (something I am fully capable of sawing off). I was impressed with the amount of power this has and I didn't feel I was losing power with this battery-operated B&D jigsaw vs. AC jigsaw. Very heavy feel (in a good way), even without the battery.I bought mine "Used - Very Good" and couldn't tell it wasn't new except it had a used blade on it. It's not supposed to, but mine came with a 20v battery & charger, which sells for more than what I paid for the jigsaw. Even without a battery & charger (description kuh-LEAR-ly says are "not included" and "tool only"), at less than $40 it's a great deal. The beveled shoe is handy, too.One minor con for this is that the guide for lining up the cut is a couple inches away from the blade, which makes accurately cutting on a line more difficult. I taped a piece of cereal box cardboard with a straight line on it it in front of the guide closer to the blade (see pic), which helps me a lot. ®®®Patent pending!®®®If you're in doubt, lean in the direction of getting one, especially if you're like I am and have a half dozen other B&D 20V tools and batteries.•••I wasn't at all bribed to write a positive review, but if B&D is listening I would totally sell out for free merch.•••

Great tool. Exactly the kind of tool that is good for battery powered
I love this tool. I actually have a ton of Back and Decker 20V tools and this was my most recent purchase. So far I've used it only to cut a hole in a door for a return air pathway but it performed admirably. The fact that it is cordless really ends up being nice. I'm sure if I were a contractor cutting things all day I'd prefer A/C power but for the weekend warrior who only occasionally uses it, the flexibility to take it anywhere easily is so worth it. Great tool. Super easy to change blades too.At this point I have so many 20V tools (both power tools and yard tools) that I am entrenched in the brand. So nice to have interchangeable batteries for everything. I don't think there's anything special about Black and Decker, though. If I had gone with a different brand, like Ryobi, I'm sure I would be just as happy.

A decent tool for the price.
If you're looking for a powerhouse cutting tool, this probably isn't for you. My five star review is based on the value for the price. I needed a basic jigsaw for small cutting projects. Cutting engineered vinyl flooring and cutting wall boards. The saw was more than adequate for each job and with a careful hand, made consistently clean cuts. Battery life was as expected. You probably get 15 minutes of continuous cutting time. Granted, you're not going to be holding the trigger for 15 straight minutes. On the flooring project, we needed to swap batteries every 40 minutes or so. Saw has a good solid feel to it and is a good addition to any collection of B&D 20v cordless tools.

Great for projects around the house
I gave up my expensive dreams of owning PRO brand tools. I use a lot of different tools and I couldn't justify the price for PRO level. I do small to medium projects around the house. Even as large as building a chicken coop. The Black and Decker v20 stuff has been perfect for my needs. I own several pieces. This jig saw was my latest purchase to replace a Dewalt saw that frankly was not safe. The Dewalt had terrible balance and I would pull the trigger by mistake. I got rid of it and replaced it with this Craftsman. I didn't think a cordless jigsaw would have enough power and I was wrong. I was concerned that the amps and strokes per minute were lower. It just didn't matter. The first thing I cut was 3/4 CDX - no problem. As with any saw, make sure you are using the right blade for what you are cutting. Speaking of blades, this saw accepts both U and T shank blades. These tools are lighter weight than the PRO tools too. That makes them easier to maneuver.Be sure to get a battery and charger. This version is a bare tool only - no battery.

Great little jigsaw
I must admit that I have looked down upon B&D tools of late, thinking them cheap Chinese made junk. My other power tools are Makita and Milwaukee (also made in China lately, so why not try a B&D?). I did buy a B&D 20V grass trimmer and hedge trimmer recently, and both are working great. I went ahead and bought the B&D fast charger (2A) since the OEM charger for the yard tools takes all day to recharge even a 1.5AH battery. The fast charger will recharge a 1.5AH battery in less than an hour. Since I already had the batteries for the yard tools, I decided to try this little jigsaw. It works great, is lightweight and maneuverable with the 1.5AH battery. Has plenty of power to cut 3/4" treated plywood and I have even used it to cut off 2x4" rather than get the big geardrive circular saw out and plug it in. Have yet to use it enough on one project to drain a battery, so appears that the small battery is fine for this tool. My next B&D tools will be the little circular saw and the reciprocating saw to give me cordless options on those tools.

Super versatile jigsaw
I bought this saw for a kitchen remodel (mostly to cut flooring) but then discovered that I use it for everything. I already had the right rechargeable batteries for my drill. It is so much easier to use and so much more versatile than my corded jigsaw. I wish that I bought it years ago. Highly recommend!
