Great oatmeal substitute
Once I went lectin free I found myself missing oatmeal. This grain has been a great stand in! It also can be used in savory dishes like stir fry. I find that it cooks best in slow cooker. It freezes well too!

Nutritious grain to add to your diet
Clean, fresh, well-packaged product that cooked up nicely. A question I had for Shiloh Farms was answered promptly by their customer service representative. I'll deal directly with them from now on.

How to cook
This is a tasty alternative to rice and such. It takes a long time to cook but I have discovered that if you rinse the sorghum and put it into plenty of water to soak overnight, then rinse and boil with a teaspoon of salt that the cooking time is 1 hour instead of two hours. Then drain. I then spread the grains in a wide dish to dry a little and then put the grains in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer. I can break off chunks for a meal. I use one cup of sorghum with this method.

Extremely overpriced won’t pop
Low rating due to cost and not popping - the only reason for buying it. It is a good quality grain however, at least 4 times higher cost than at a store. I tried every method possible to pop it but no more than a few would pop. It cooks up nicely boiled so not complete waste except the for the price.

Popped sorghum
I like to pop it like corn and eat it lightly salted.

Blanch them for a few days then cook.
Preparing takes time, a pressure cooker would probably be better for them.

Popping sour gum, should pop, at least most of it
Less than half of it actually pops
