Saved my little man's life!
I've been using the Herbsmith Senior Dog Wisdom supplements for about 4 months now, and I can honestly say that it has made all the difference and ultimately prevented me from making a very difficult decision and saying goodbye to my little man who is blind but otherwise (physically) healthy. He's getting on in years - just turned 15 in April 2023 - and unfortunately, his cognition had really started to decline over the last year or so. He is completely blind, seeing only light and shadow, so I chalked some things up to that initially - simple things like sometimes not being able to find the door or water bowl - but it progressed to him getting stuck in corners and behind furniture, apparently forgetting basic cues he's known since he was 8 weeks old like "sit" and "wait." Impulse control went completely out the window and this previously calm, confident, and independent little 15 pound dog who NEVER wanted to be picked up suddenly became a drooling mess of anxiety who would beg and beg to be carried everywhere or else he would hide in his crate (when he could find it.) He started whining when he thought it might be meal time (any time he heard a bag rustle, or someone grab a glass or bowl out of the cabinet) and he would NOT stop that whining until actual dinner time came, no matter what. It became obvious that he was genuinely suffering and I started to question his quality of life.I have been in the dog behavior and veterinary fields for about 20 years now, and I know that side effects of treatments usually offered to dogs with canine cognitive dysfunction can be less than lovely, and the medications are often pretty expensive, so I started doing research on alternative treatments. This supplement came out on top in terms of ingredients and it really can't be beat at this price.I noticed a BIG difference in his behavior within a few days. He wasn't getting stuck as much. He was more aware of his surroundings. He acknowledged me when I called him and was able to respond to long-known cues in a reasonable timeframe. After about a week, he was no longer demanding to be held and carried everywhere all the time, and he was beginning to play with toys again, initiate play with me and even with his doggy siblings - something he hadn't really done since completely losing his vision a few years ago. When I ran low and didn't reorder in time to prevent him from going without for a few days, there was a VERY marked difference in his behavior and he'd backslid to being a nervous wreck who couldn't find the doorway in about 3 days. After getting another batch, it took about 3 days for him to improve again, and I vowed to never ever run out again.I have used both the chews and the powder, and I will say that it seems like the powder is more effective, but the chews are obviously much more convenient. I keep a tub of both on hand because he eats at least half of his meals out of Kongs and other food toys, and he gets a softchew with those meals. I mix the powder into the remainder of his meals.I have not been paid or received any sort of compensation for this review and I paid full price for every tub I've used, I really just can't believe the difference in him on vs off of this supplement and if our story can help someone else hang out with their senior pup for a few more golden years, that's all that matters. For me personally, unless this suddenly stops being beneficial to him, I will keep him on it for the rest of his life.I really want to stress that this isn't an "anxiety" supplement, since I read several reviews giving this a poor rating because it didn't ease anxiety specifically. This is a supplement that helps with memory issues which may cause anxiety. There is a big difference! If your dog has anxiety that is not related to cognition and memory, then this will not help your dog; it is not an anxiolytic.

Helped my dog’s sundowning
My 13 year old started having some pretty big sundowning symptoms every night, and I started him on these supplements. We JUST finished the first jar and he is pretty much back to normal! He is doing wonderfully well and is no longer pacing and unsettled in the evening. He seems more cognitively clear/back to his normal self. I’ve already recommended these to several friends because they absolutely made my little guy’s quality of life so much better!

It’s Amazing How Great This Works!
This product is amazing. Our almost 15 year old Doxie has been demonstrating signs of K9 dementia for the past few years, slowly progressing each month. For the past year or so we have been giving him Senior Dog Wisdom supplements. A few weeks back we ran out and he had to go without. His decline was so evident that I thought we were going to have to put him down. He no longer recognized us, he stopped sleeping with us, never wagged his tail, and he just stared into space and paced in circles (when he was awake). We decided to hold off any decisions until we could try the supplements again. Our supply came in and we started them again (and increased the dose slightly). The turn around Has been incredible. He now runs to me when I come home, wags his tail when I pet him, and snuggles at night again. Thank you for giving me my good boy back!

Sadly didn't do anything for 11 year old girl...
I was using this recently with Senilife and saw no improvement in my baby girl's sundowner's syndrome that has progressed quite rapidly within the last few months. She is an 11yr old Maltese-Bichon and was diagnosed with it last year and did so well just on 1 or 2 supplements for her little brain but now not so much. She is under a vet's care for this. I do HOPE it helps your fur babies, this was a waste of money for me, but had to try it. Did not upset her stomach and she did not have any side effects....I will say that.

Day 2 and I can see a difference!
My 15 year old Terrier mix started sundowning in January 2023. In April 2023 i had a houseguest and the change in my dog’s routine plunged him overnight into full-time dementia. The vet prescribed something to address the anxiety and a few weeks later I was back asking for something for “the bad nights”. 1st month I only had to use it twice but about a month ago it escalated into every night. More recently, nothing made the “bad nights” better, they were every night. I was reluctant to return to the vet for a 3rd drug because I didn’t want him sedated, which I feared would happen. I started researching other options, came across this product with reviews from people who’d experienced what I had and saw an improvement with this supplement.I ordered it, it arrived yesterday morning and I immediately gave the 1st dose. He had fallen into a pattern of sleeping heavily all day long & I’d have to wake him every 4 hours to go outside. And by 6pm he’d be wide awake, panting & pacing which would escalate as the evening passed and would continue long into the wee hours. I thought he seemed more alert during the day yesterday but worried I was seeing what I wanted to see. After his dinner he had his 2nd dose and while there was some panting he was calmer & more engaged with me. At bedtime, he paced a little and when asked to come to bed, he did and he fell asleep…no “bad night”, no 2nd med needed for the first time in weeks. If I hadn’t seen it, I wouldn’t have believed it.2nd day, dose after breakfast today and his behavior is definitely different — not sleeping as heavily, if he sees me going outside, he comes along. He’s very engaged with me. I anticipate tonight will pass like last night.Yes, it’s very early days but I have moved away from making the difficult decision that seemed inevitable just a few days ago. I know this isn’t a cure, but to have a few more good months with him would be such a blessing. I will continue to update this review because I know there are others like me, looking for something/anything to improve the situation. So I wanted to tell others that this is definitely worth a try!UPDATE: He’s been on this a week now and I can’t get over the difference! He’s back to the dog he was before dementia set in. Doesn’t spend the daylight hours sleeping heavily. At night he does pace & pant minimally but when told to go to bed, he does! He’s not dementia-free but his behavior is manageable. Wish I’d found this at the start of our dementia journey.
