Ripping potential is INSANE
This drive does everything you’d expect it to do. You plug in both usb ports (one for power, the other for data) and your off to the races. However, its ripping potential is amazing. Not only can you rip Blu-Rays, but you actually CAN RIP 4K UHD Blu-Rays. Despite another review saying you can’t, you actually can. All you need to do is to use SDFTool Flasher, follow the steps on the MakeMKV UHD drive (or a video tutorial for this drive.) and boom, you can rip pretty much CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, and 4K UHD Blu-Rays.For the price, it’s completely worth it.

Nice portable drive
Nice and simple portable drive. I got it to rip all of our discs from DVD and Bluray to digital to use Plex. We had roughly 200 movies and shows, maybe 350 discs total so far. It took only 3 weeks to copy all the discs to hard drive. Average was about 4.0x-5.0x read speed. Now the used DVD/Bluray store at the mall is my favorite place now. Buy 5 get 5 free - and then rip+encode have it anywhere with internet to connect and watch via Plex.

Works very well
Got this drive for one of my Window 11 Pro computers. Works great with no problems. Read and plays both blueray and dvd disks and cds. Come with a light version of a software suite, however I use a suite of software that's is better. It is a LG brand, but the LG website won't accept the serial number of or registration for warranty. Other then that it's a good buy.

Noise warning
It works and was able to be used for 4K discs after some tinkering but boy is it loud. Did not bother with the included software, just use Leawo

Negative reviews worrying you? Think again.
***Final Update***Make MKV and Handbrake = the way to go when you want the best quality ripping.**Further Update**DOES NOT support 4k.**A little bit of an update**Great little device, you can't go wrong, unless your ONLY purpose is to RIP Blu-Rays and want to dish out another couple hundred for an ASUS 6x ripper AND have a CPU that can support that speed.Second counter to negative reviews: The longevity. Don't try to RIP multiple files at once, or yes, your device will last about 2 days. RIP only 1 file at a time.Third counter to negative reviews: Software. To RIP Blu-Rays you have 3 real choices of software:- 1st: Handbrake or VLCThese are free but do not support encrypted Blu-Ray movies.- EasyFabInexpensive for lifetime use, easy to use, simple interface, useful tools. Doesn't do HVEC (x265) encoding which is far superior to x264, doesn't crop videos, doesn't support latest NVIDIA's gimmicky hardware, and doesn't do 4k rips.- DVDFabFeels like pirated software with Wukong ( a Chinese deity that is like a cross between Satan and Loki ) as a logo and a clunky/bloated interface. However, this will encode in x265, does support NVIDIA's gimmicky hardware, does rip 4k, does auto iTunes tagging that is mostly correct, does auto crop that is usually okay, and does bypass any and all encryptions. The problem is, it's Chinese, their terms of service blatantly tells you they will sell your information to shady people, and it's hella expensive at 140 bucks.Best Tool for iTunes Tagging and DVD Rips:Hands down: Aimersoft UltimateNo other tool comes close. This is beyond comparison the best bang for the buck video software that is on the market. Excellent tools, useful options, clean interface, good support, and inexpensive for what you get. Just make sure you set in the preferences to convert only 1 file at a time, if you are RIPPING a DVD.Best video players for playing Blu-Rays- VLC is the open-source one that everyone loves- Gom is the one I like. Gom has annoying ads, but more than makes up for it in useful tools, customization and out-of-the box support for video and audio formats. A firewall solved my ad problem with Gom.

Works as expected
I'm in region 1 (US). Other cheaper brands didn't work, probably because they were in the wrong region.I already had the software I needed, but this came with some playback software as well.I'm using this with a Windows 11 PC, but it's nice to have the option to move it between systems if I needed to.

The CyberLink Media Suite Software that comes with the drive will not install on my Windows 11 PC
After I finally got through to CyberLink, they advised that I must call LG since the CyberLink Media Suite Software that came with the drive was a special OEM version. LG advised there was either corruption on the disk or some incompatibility with Windows 11, but they would be happy to send me a full expensive version of CyberLink Media Suite for an exorbitant charge. It turns out that the vs. that comes with the drive is only a 30-day trial, according to LG. What a colossal waste of time! Please don't waste yours.

Most affordable way to back up movies
I own some blu ray discs and after nearly ruining a few in the sun, I decided it was time to back some of them up. After doing a lot of research, this seemed to be the cheapest drive that could do that for 4k UHD titles. Flashed the proper firmware without incident and now use MakeMKV to back up to an old hard drive I keep in a drawer just in case I'm stupid with my discs again.
