Nice box for storing additional supplies.having the stand for your shoes/boots prevents you from being tempted to use the floor or carpet when polishing.Mine did not close easily, but a little sandpaper took care of it and it works fine. Bought one for a friend as well.

I ordered this valet because it reminded me of a shoeshine kit we used to have when I was growing up. I wanted one so I ordered. It is a little smaller than I thought it would be, even the brush is smaller than normal but is still usable. One thing I don't like is how the top is supposed to slide on and latch. This is not very practical as it is to hard to slide completely in. Seems as if the box is not actually square. And the ball latch is impractical once you get the top to completely close because now you have to stick something in to disengage the lock in order to access the contents. It would have been much simpler to attach the top with hinges so as to just fold it open. It can still work but obviously was not designed by someone who ever had to shine a shoe.

I just started getting into taking better care of my leather shoes and this shine box makes the process much easier and even enjoyable. There is plenty of storage space, everything is right where I need it! I have mine stocked with brown and black oils, a couple tins of mink oil, a 3-piece horsehair brush set, a shining sponge, and a couple cloths, plus there is even room to spare. For me, what tops it off is that I really enjoy the foot rest on top. It makes the experience better, like you're at one of those old-timey shoe shine stands. Even if you don't want to use it for shoe shining purposes, I can see the foot rest would be useful for making it easier to take care of your feet, even as simple as cutting or painting your nails, especially if you have limited mobility, trouble keeping still, or trouble bending over and reaching your feet. It would make a great gift for any of these purposes, or just as a great treat for yourself to extend the life of your shoes and having them look like new week after week.
