General Electric WR55X10942 Refrigerator Main Control Board Assembly

Our son helped us by trouble shooting the issue with our refrigerator. We actually just needed capacitors. The capacitors on our current panel were expanded (puffy looking). After ordering, we realized we might not have the tools to remove the old capacitors from the Control Board. Fortunately we ordered this Control board at the same day. My son used YouTube and/or the manual to install. Very easy! The hardest part was pulling the fridge out, and pushing it back in. The cost was $200 for the Control Board, which was much less than having a service person come out, and then padding extra money on the price of their part/s. It is an easy, do-it-yourself job!

The board on our refrigerator stopped working after a power spike / outage. We tried to troubleshoot but nothing worked. The website provides a feature to verify that you are getting the correct replacement part for the refrigerator based on make / model and it verified that I was ordering the correct part.The replacement board arrived in a couple of days after ordering and took less than 15 minutes to replace - it was very easy to do and fixed our broken refrigerator immediately. Other sites I found online had the part listed for $450 (shipping extra) or more but Amazon had it for just over $200.

The item works like a charm! I loss power last night and the side by side returned with the clicking noise and no longer cooling. I install the control board, its now working like a charm. The one down side about the board was there was no grounding wire as pictured, taking the grounding wire off of the old board was not easy. Ladies you can repair your refrigerator yourself, I was done in 45 minutes. The repair man that came to do the repair stated the part was no longer being made for this model.

Worked near perfectly. Avoided costly repair tech costs, or possible replacement to the fridge itself. Only small hiccup was that the grounding wire wasn't long enough to meet the screw (my fridge has two screws way on the lower side of the board), but I was able to jam it into the existing grounding wire from the old control board, so it was addressed. Included instructions for other models of fridges, but didn't need those.

It worked fine (no more awful groaning sound) but failed after just a couple months. Back to the groaning noises now!

My GE refrigerator/freezer was making strange sounds (like it was breathing) and the ice maker was not working the way it should have. A repair tech that was at my house for a dryer issue, told me that it was probably the control board as GE has had problems with them. I finally ordered one, followed the installation instructions, plugged the unit back in and it's been working great, quiet and making ice like it should have been. Definitely recommend this for other GE refrigerator/freezer owners who are having problems.
