Next best book on DMT..
I haven't yet read all of DMT: The Spirit Molecule, but from what I have read this is the next best thing. The cool thing about this book is it goes more in depth on what someone curious about psychedelic/entheogens should know if they want to have such an experience for themselves or are just curious of the health or philosophical implications.I myself have undergone the sacrament that is N,N Dimethyltryptamine a number of times and I can tell you that this book has said so much in congruence with my own experiences that it's almost scary, but instead I am grateful. There is still a whole universe to be explored, but this book signifies a step in the right direction. It is a must have for anyone interested in psychology, neurology, pharmacology, sociology, consciousness, art, why they are here, and what it means to be human. It's well worth the money in any case.

Didn’t want to put it down!
It’s been a long time since I found a book that I couldn’t wait to get back to reading! This says a lot coming from someone with degrees in psychology…I read all the time. This book does a great job of building up to the exploration of some deep, spiritual and philosophical considerations. if you think you’re interested, definitely grab it!

Terrific, especially if you are new to this topic
I realize that some folks, including a couple of reviewers here who awarded just a single star, might be disappointed in this book after finding a lot of material they had already read before, or at least were familiar with. However, I am going to go ahead an award this four stars because anyone who is confronting this kind of information for the first time should find this a 5-star read. It's important to point out that Dr. Rick Strassman is not the only or even the primary author of this book. Also included are Slawek Wojtowicz, M.D., Ede Frecksa, M.D. and Luis Eduardo Luna, Ph.D.I am familiar with the work of Strassman, and I did find some of his material here "nothing new" for the most part; however, the essays of the other writers, especially Frecksa, was for me a new look at the nature of consciousness, and especially the possible quantum structure of the brain on the nano-scale. Extremely interesting. For people who have never before heard about or read about the deeper implications of hallucinogenic compounds, synthetic or natural, on the nature of reality and consciousness, this book will be nothing less than an amazing revelation. Most of the material has a high scientific and academic standard, though it sometimes does get a little "New Agey" here and there -- but that's okay. All in all, a fascinating collection of the writings of distinguished researchers which I am happy to recommend.

Great collection of insights!
This is my first Amazon review and the book is definitely worth taking some time to share my thoughts. After having watched the Spirit Molecule documentary, I was interested to delve deeper into the possibility of accessing unseen worlds and challenge my concept of consciousness. The book covered a broad range of topics relevant to psychedelic journeys, which made me even more interested in acquiring additional knowledge on the subject. At times, I felt that I didn't want to entertain the implications of some of the inferences drawn by the authors to save my sanity. Particularly, the reptilian humanoid creatures that appeared in some cosmonaut anecdotes who gave the impression that they had been expecting them.Overall, a great collection of works by credible and great minds.A highly recommended read for those brave enough to start testing their basic assumptions about reality.

My favorite part of this book was commentary on the book of Genesis. I, too, saw a serpent in my vomit on ayahuasca. One of the articles discussed the serpent in the Garden of Eden as if the word "serpent" is overdetermined with three separate layers of significance, each of which suggests a serpentine entheogen such as ayahuasca. The serpent will "open your eyes" with knowledge (gnosis even), to become "like God, knowing good and evil." There is no reason to be alarmed; the issue is complex, not really Satanic in any disturbing sense.

Definitely an excellent read. I looked into this right before my own personal Ayahuasca journey. Ended up reading a book channeled by beings after that! Supra Being: A True Self Revelation So read these two books, get some DMT (Ayuhasca kit online) and tune into the signal. Peace

Deeply spiritual, yet scientifically sound
Enlightenment in a spiritual yet scientific book. If God is love, you become one with God because you love without expecting something in return. Then life changes from nightmare into heaven.

Must Read
Tackles questions raised by the psychedelic experience from a rational, scientific viewpoint. Strassman's contributions are particularly wonderful, but the whole book had me taking notes and ordering more material to further enrich the knowledge contained in this excellent collection of essays. So glad this is the first book I read to begin preparing for a journey of my own.
