If your looking for heat control(updated)
This isn’t it the lowest setting goes above a hundred so if your refluxing or just in need to stay in a low heat window this isn’t it. Let me start by saying they replaced it. Best bang for the buck on this place hot plate wise and size and heat sturdy too thank y'all the temp control works beautifully will be talking about this product on my upcoming Channel.Great Product for price it’s a Steal!!!!!!

Great little magnetic stirrer hotplate
What else can I say? It delivers what it promises, gets up to a nice temperate, has powerful stirring, and was a good price. I've only been using it for 4ish months, so I can't speak to long term reliability yet, but so far everything's great and I would recommend this item.

Great Laboratory Hot Plate for a Great Price!
Purchased for use with laboratory distillation and soxhlet apparatus setups. Used a standard kitchen hot plate prior.Overall, worlds better than a standard hot plate! The most significant improvement by far is the build quality which is very solid!Almost made completely of stainless steal. Knobs turn smoothly and function with great precision. Highly Splash proof with even large spills leaving the hot plate unaffected.Separate power switch is useful for ensuring the hot plate isn’t accidentally turned on.Very flexible function and is pretty easy to handle with larger volumes up to 2000ml. The ability to heat and stir simultaneously promotes even boiling as well as prevents precipitation making distillation so much easier!

Great choice for a novice who does not want to spend a fortune on a pro device out of the gate
The media could not be loaded. I bought two of these and I can tell that the temperature controls are not identical on the two side-by-side units when I am working. In terms of speed, they heat up at a semi-decent rate. I wish it were better, but for the cost compared to professional units, I cannot complain. The units do not make any noise and they are very easy to use. The mixer speed is great, see attached video for example.

Works Well
It works as intended and seems to have a decent build quality. Good product. Thanks.

Impossible to dial in a temperature
I read some reviews on the poor temperature control, and they are spot on. I decided to open up the unit to see if it was a defect or just poor design, and it's the latter. The circuitry which controls the heating element is essentially like a light dimmer. On top of that, the dial is quite misleading, which adds to the confusion. On the heat knob, when you turn it all the way to the left, there's a distinct "click" which turns the heating circuitry completely off. When you turn it "on", it clicks again, and the "heat" light comes up, which would imply that the unit is heating. But it's not. It only triggers the heat circuitry when you turn the dial about half way up, right about where the blue line printed above the knob begins. If you're in a quiet room and your hearing isn't completely shot, you can hear the circuitry kick on.Once it the circuitry triggers on, you CAN dial back the control a bit to apply less power, but there's no way to know exactly where it will trigger off (you can hear it, however). Messing around with this, the lowest temp I was able to achieve was 55C.Think of the heating element like the light dimmer which I mentioned earlier. When you start turning the light dimmer up, the light suddenly comes on, but not at it's lowest level. You can dial back a light dimmer to a lower light output than what initially came on when you turned the light on.Now, I am only using this for pc board etching, and just warming the solution, so this will work for me, and I can turn the heating element completely off once I warm the solution, since the PCB will etch in just a few minutes. But if you're looking for accurate temp control, this is NOT for you.I may fiddle with the circuit to see if I can get this to kick on at a lower temp and will post any updates if I have a quick solution.

For home brewing yeast starters this is the way to go!
Looking to up my home brewing game, I bought a 5L Erlenmeyer flask to replace a 2L version. Unfortunately, my original stir plate, one made for home brewing, wasn't up to the task. Looked at the upgraded home brewing stir plates and found them lacking. So, for just a few dollars more the SH-3, a real stir plate, found its way to me.Using just water, I experimented with a variety of stir bars and the SH-3 handled them with aplomb. I settled on a smooth bar simply because it was quieter than the others. The heater works extremely well, but I don't have much use for it.I've made three yeast starters using the SH-3, including a multi-stage starter, and the SH-3 is definitely up to the task. For the multi-stage starter it ran for the better part of a week without a hitch.Highly recommended.
