The La Crosse Technology 308-1414W looked great when received. Read the instructions, plugged in power supply, installed batteries, and waited, temps never changed, both displays read same temp 68.7 degrees with base unit sitting in house and remote transmitter outside (40 degrees)I waited two days to see if unit would correct itself, but it never changed. I did some online research and read more about the unit. The online instructions go into much more detail, I recommend reading them over the small printed instructions it come with. A lot of technical information is left out of the small printed version.I did a recommended factory reset, which takes almost two hours to complete start to finish. After following reset instructions to a tee, the unit now works perfectly.Now it’s just a matter of time (up to seven days or longer) for the barometric readout to stabilize and become accurate. I was expecting this weather station to work right out of the box, but it does take some time to get it set up properly.I really like the look of the main unit display, the screen is bright and can be read from across the room (35 ft) Setup of time, date, and year is straightforward. It can be programmed for high and low temp alarms and also as an alarm clock if you choose.Overall it’s a great looking, functional unit and well worth the cost. I’m already looking into replacing this unit with one that has the wind speed and direction along with a rain gauge. Just follow the instructions carefully and this unit will work great!The picture is the actual unit reading in real time when taken, it’s not an overlay or display shot.

The display is vivid and bright with 3 brightness levels. The main display works by battery but it also plugs in.FunctionsThe internal climate data includes temperature and humidity. Alarms can be set for critical temperatures for both indoor and outdoor temperatures. This can also work as an alarm clock which I did not nor intend to use. The sensor has the ability to take additional readings from TWO MORE sensors.ConclusionI have been very pleased with the function and brightness of the display. It works very well, though, this season, has not been as cold as last year.

I received this weather station today. Setup was easy and the device looks good. The first thing I noticed when the sensor connected to the base station is that the battery indicator indicated "low" even with brand new, fresh batteries. I tried several batteries from a fresh pack, always the same result. The base station was plugged into 110V via the power source which came with it. The sensor worked flawlessly as long as it was between 1-15ft from the base station. The base station showed a connection with 5 bars. But when I moved the sensor 6ft across my deck and tried to mount it there the base station lost the signal and never regained it. The reach of 300ft is a joke!I found a way to mount the sensor underneath the glass table on my deck and have now a 5 bar connection and decent temperature and humidity readings. This also provides very good protection for the sensor from the elements. In summer I have sun on that deck for a couple of hours. I assume that skews the temperature and humidity readings during that time. But I can live with that.What bothers me is the poor signal strength I get when I move the sensor just a few feet further and that the battery level indicator for the sensor keeps on showing "Low". Therefore the 2 stars.I like the looks of the station and so far the accuracy. I will update my review in the future should the battery level indicator or anything else change.Update on 6/3/2019: I have had this weather station for over two months now and have upgraded it to 4 stars. It works perfectly and with good accuracy. The location I put the sensor at turned out to be a great location because the sensor is protected and when the sun is shining on the deck I put the sun umbrella up and the sensor reading is not affected by direct sun exposure. Batteries seem to be holding up just fine. The battery indicator has not shown up again but I can live with that. Overall very good product I can recommend with only minor things to criticize. Therefore 4 stars out of 5.

Exactly what I want for a weather station. Love the color display, although I wish that the backlight would stay on with just battries. I know that it does not to save battery power, but still it would have been a nice feature.Does everything I want and the range on the wireless transmitter is very nice. I have not have any issues and that accuracy seems to be spot on.If I had to have one legitimate grip, it is the length of the power supply. I wish it was longer or there was an actual extension cord. I know you can just buy a cheap extension cord and accomplish the same thing, but I like the small size of the stock power supply cord and wanted something similar to that.

This was bought as a replacement for an older model. It is easier to read the temperatures, but it is harder to see the time of day. The Forcast isn't always correct, but the directions say that could be off by a few days. All and all we're satisfied with the product.
