Beautiful, green, lush, and great for shady spots
great brand, great seed, and love the look! This grass is a beautiful green and will stay green year round depending on your climate and where you put it. we had a patch in the back where nothing would grow because the 24/7 shade and this did the trick! The key is making sure to water water water in the first year (at least) of planting it. If the seed takes, it is a great value for money. Ours died off because we didnt water it enough and we. started watering it more and it came back and is doing great! It takes a while to grow but be patient and water it a lot! the blades are thinner and very nice looking

This stuff is MIND BLOWING!!!
We have a small dirt run in our back yard enclosure in northern CA where we are in a drought, but have relatively mild seasonal change and good weather. We get basically zero sun in this area because it's covered by the roof. We've tried sod twice and it very quickly died, but we wanted grass for our dogs. I was very skeptical because I knew this wasn't a good area for grass, and we didn't buy any extra supplies. I just threw the seed out with my hands and I did go very heavy on the seed in hopes it would take. I didn't have any soil other than 3 flower pots of old soil on hand, so again I hand sprinkled this tiny but of soil out and it didn't even begin to cover the seed. I also had the dead sod out and so I threw the seed right on top of the dead sod and then hosed it down. I'm on day 11 today, and this grass is insane! It's so luscious, and the brightest green in color. It is very long, fine, and growing in thick very fast. This doesn't look anything like plain sod grass, it's much fancier and silkier to the touch. I can't describe how pretty and rich the color is and texture enough! It lays beautifully in these lovely waves. I would have never expected results like this so fast, and we had beautiful grass within a couple of days and again on day 11, I am stunned by the sheer speed it grew. I can only imagine what this will look like at the one month mark. We have watered it 4 times total for a minute, and we did throw some grass vertilizer balls out very lightly because I didn't want to burn it and was skeptical. Anyways, it's beyond amazing and I've got a few pics here to show the progress. Keep in mind, it's been 11 days total. I strongly suggest using much more seed to get this result because I used the small bag on an area that's about 15×10 but only because I had dead sod out, and didn't follow prep but it still rocked my world! I am in love with it! Shocked and amazed! Highly recommend if you have areas that don't get any sun or water. I will add more pics as we progress in time.

Decent Success After 8 Weeks (see pics)
Selected this seed to re-seed my small back yard in northern Illinois (~800 sf) which only gets 2-3 hours of sun a day once the surrounding trees have their leaves. I was a little concerned about the "Dense Shade" label since this area is not always in the shade. However, looking up the specific seed blend, it can tolerate some sun.Steps: Tarped the old grass/weeds over the winter, put down 2" - 3" of new dirt (6 cubic yards, lots of work) see Pic 1, added starter fertilizer and seed, used a lawn roller to tamp down the seeds, put down EZ Straw see Pic 2, watered twice a day until germination. I used 6 lbs of seed per the instructions. Germination took 14 - 16 days, which is longer than expected, but we had a chilly end of April. After 4 weeks, the growth was okay but there were lots of bare spots. So I put down more seed by hand (another 3 lbs) in the bare areas and covered with some peat moss. After 6 weeks, I sprayed some broadleaf weed killer on the numerous weeds that spouted with the grass. I don't know if the weeds came from the dirt, the straw, and/or the seed. After 8 weeks, and 4 mowings, the lawn looks pretty good. I'd say the seed met expectation but plan on using 12 lbs per 1,000 sf (not the recommended 8 lbs). We'll see how it holds up over the summer. I plan to address the remaining bare spots in the fall.

BEST SEED ON THE PLANET!!!
I have a fair amount of area where two huge male mulberry trees create a ton of shade. It's been a love/hate relationship given I love the shade trees but, hate the bald dirt area underneath them. Without exaggeration, I've planted every kind of grass one can imagine that's regional to my area for the past 18 yrs. w/ few seed types to have ever takien off. A few times I had luck but, grass could never make it thru winter months. After 18 yrs of frustration, I surrendered. I truly believed grass would never exist under my awesome shade trees. Then, for some silly reason, one day I decided to give my grass saga another whirl (amnesia, no doubt!). So, I looked on Amazon and luckily I found this seed (I'm positive, back when, this seed did not exist). Now... I sit under my awesome shade trees, thanking my lucky stars to have found this seed! This seed is truly a miracle! Believe me when I say this... you'll be thoroughly pleased to have bought this seed. Within 5 days after spreading the seeds, I noticed the grass had already grown at least 1 inch. The area was filled with thick lush green grass within one month. NO LIE! I was not paid or given any sample this product to write a positive review. This review is being written solely because this product deserves every ounce of praise it has coming. Sure, some reviews may not be positive however, I can assure you, the negative was likely due to an inability to follow instructions (like planting in off season or poor soil prep, etc.). If you plant this seed (w/ suggested starter food) there truly isn't any way it will not grow. Honestly, this seed grows like nobodies business. Also, I'd like to add... where I planted the seed is at my weekend retreat home so, I am only there watering this grass once a week. I'll be clear in stating, I used a timer to water the grass in its first stages but, once the seed took off, I've been watering only once a week and the grass has continued to thrive for nearly a year now.
