Can you load third party software like adobe photoshop?

Pixelbook fully supports Google Play to access your favorite apps, including Adobe Lightroom for photo editing. We are working to make other photo editing apps, including Adobe Photoshop, available soon.

Not only SSD, with this i7 gets a true 512GB PCIe x4 NVMe, the only variant for this. The rest are either eMMC or (at best) SATA-3. Hardware wise, this Google Pixel i7 is a game changer, when released was $200 more, although some sites includes a stylus during promos. While I'm not yet a Chromebook owner, once I need a notebook again, a like model like this has my name on it. Only question I have, based on trying Neverware OS (Google Chrome OS based), what's there other than a browser on hardware? Am sure that the full suite of goodies will be available that not on Neverware (such as Google Drive & other Google proprietary apps). If you're a true Google fan, this is the best computer (spec wise) one can own.

can linux run on this?

If you are asking if you can replace Chrome OS with another Linux OS or dual boot, then I would think it possible but you may run into compatibility issues depending on your flavor of choice and kernel. I would look in some forums on that. If you just want to run some Linux applications then you can, and I believe it does it by effectively running them in a VM (virtual manager/computer) or a "sandbox" so there COULD be some processing losses there? I don't know how it is set up. I wouldn't get it if running a Linux OS or popular Linux software is your primary goal.

Does it work for data engineering development ? i am heavy user of spark, scala , java , python and ml tools such as pytorch and tensorflow etc.

With the high-end version of the pixel book running these should not be a problem...I run multiple containers in linux on my chromebook with no issues...also hardware graphic acceleration has just been enabled and google is consistently coming out with updates to chromeos that make it more useful.
