Fresh look on an aging car
First off the nameplate was in Ford packaging and looked great. No nuts were included. Peel off adhesive on back. Pulling off the existing one was a pain! The original one had two screws on the back that screwed into the nameplate from the inside. The middle plastic post had a low profile nut that was impossible to get to. My hands were just too big to get through the top or the grille easily. I mean I did it just wasn't very comfortable. I was able to remove the screws. I ended up snapping the middle post off with pliers. Once removed I cleaned off the base of the grille and the name plate fit perfect - nice tight fit. I will most likely get some of those nuts to put on the plastic posts just to make sure it doesn't fall off.

Thoughts on Replacing the Nameplate
I bought this nameplate to replace one on the front of a 2006 F150 Lariat. It looks just like the original. The mounting plate on the grill that this attaches to is a silver gray plastic. If you open the hood and look behind the nameplate mount you will see that there are 3 plastic posts on the nameplate that fit into the mounting plate on the grill. Two of these plastic posts have a pressed steel self-threading nut that secures the nameplate to the mounting plate. You need to take these off and keep them (you will need to them on the new nameplate, because it doesn't come with new ones) before you try to remove the old nameplate. Also on the 2 posts with the self-threading nuts there is a notch at the base of each of the plastic posts that snaps into the mounting plate. To be sure I didn't break the mounting plate, I cut off the two plastic posts on the old nameplate, at the notch, before trying to remove the nameplate. After doing this, the old name plate slipped out easily. Also, I tried to use diagonal cutters to remove the posts on the old nameplate, but to cut the posts at the level of the notch, I ended up using a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel. The nameplate looks good on the truck. I hope these notes help you with your installation.

I'm satisfied with the purchase
I have purchased two of these Ford emblems and they are a 100% improvement over my faded, 9 year old, worn out alternative. They installed quickly with minimal effort. The old rear emblem on my vehicle was the more time consuming as it required removing the stubborn adhesive layer. Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase. However, on each emblem there were very small blemishes in the blue background. They were both well packaged and appear factory sealed. The imperfections are only visible on very close inspection and are barely noticeable at a normal viewing distance, if at all. I only point this out as these emblems, In my opinion, are handsomely priced in the upper 30 to low 40 dollar range and sold as "NEW" as I believe they are. Again, I DO recommend but for those who require a flawless product, this small ( for me) detail may not be satisfactory.

2006 XLT F150
Perfect fit for 2006 f150 XLT. Delivered on Sunday. Installed on Monday (bout 20 min). Order from northernlightsautosupply. Came in OEM package. Simple job but a few words of caution. 1. Take your time...these are all plastic parts. 2. Carefully remove 10mm bolts. 3. Cut the stems off the old emblem... This is so you don't break the inside tabs. 4. Gently pull old emblem off. 5. Remove backing on new emblem. 6. Slide new emblem into place. 7. Reuse the self-threading nuts...slow and steady... You don't want to break the new stems. 8. Done

Nice Product, But Maybe Not OEM?
Item received is not what is shown in the listing. Item did not have clearcoat over the emblem and has a matte appearance. Too much trouble to return and replace, so I stuck it on anyway. Looks much better than the faded original.

Used on the front & back of my 2008 Ford Ranger.
I used these on the front grille and the tailgate of my 2008 Ranger. They both had adhesive backs, which I only needed for the tailgate emblem. The front grille emblem was only held in with pins and sheet metal washers, so when I put the new one on, I just removed a small portion of the adhesive cover, and left the rest on. I didn't want to completely adhere the emblem to the grille.
