There is something about going back to old school remedies....THEY WORK!!!! I can't say enough great things about this product. I tried Father John's based on a recommendation from a friend. Due to this crazy cold/flu season, I had a terrible cough for months that I was not able to shake, enough though I was under doctor's care. I was tired of being sick and I decided to try this since I had tried and been prescribed almost everything else. I took Father John's along with homemade hot lemon tea (boiled water and fresh lemons) with fresh ginger and garlic for 3-5 days and let's just say, my terrible cough is gone and I feel 100% better. My mom said that she use to give this to us as kids and it definitely still works.I will forewarn you, the syrup is thick (think molasses), brown and taste like black licorice, but the taste is bearable. I was desperate to get rid of my cough so I was willing to deal with the taste. I just drank a little water and gargled with mouthwash right after it.I love the simple ingredients (cough suppressant, cod liver oil, sugar, licorice). I love that it is non-drowsy and that cod liver oil has some great benefits for the body.I will definitely keep this in my medicine cabinet.

This product took me all the way to my childhood &I’m in my early 50’s. My grandmother swore that “father John” was the cure for everything lol . But I must say i don’t recall ever being sick . Thanks

No doubt, this stuff tastes VILE! But it WILL knock out your cough, and it's good for you too! I guess I should say, it starts off with a strong black licorice flavor (I'm not a real fan of black licorice) and ends with a strong hint of the fishy cod-liver oil base. Definitely needs a chaser. BUT, all that said if you can just hold your nose and take it, you'll feel better. This product was recommended to me by a 90+ year old patient when I had a summer cold. "If you had taken my cough syrup you wouldn't be coughing right now. I took it this morning and I haven't coughed since". well, by this time I'd been coughing for days and I was on just about everything over the counter I could get my hands on. 2 doses of this and my cough was under control. So, suck it up and try it!
