Excellent Book
We used this book, along with a proprietary work book developed by the organization where I was taking a class on Leadership coaching. I found out a lot about myself by taking this course. The CDs (sold separately) are a very helpful supplement for this course. I love how you learn to get people to open up and talk themselves into their own solutions so that they own them, rather than you trying to fix or counsel them. When they take ownership, the are more likely to be successful. When you give the solution for them, then you've got the problem, if they don't follow through or fail, you get blamed for it. I the solution works, you were the owner and they become dependent upon you. It's not easy learning how to let go and learn how to ask those open ended questions that draw out of them what is already in them to get the answers and take ownership of them. But, if you can do it the right way, then the words just aren't there for how you'll feel about seeing the lights turn on in them.I highly recommend this book. If you follow what it is teaching, you will see a change in your life and relationships will get better.

Another great book for my mater's program.
This is a book recommended and used for my master's program. It's a great little book about executive/leadership coaching. He covers many of the basics and more advanced concepts surrounding coaching those in leadership positions.Easy to read. Understandable concepts and formulas. Emphasis on coaching the person, not the problem. Allowing the coachee to set the agenda, goals and achieve their potential.A great book for coaches.

The Bible for Christian Leadership Coaching
Leadership Coaching: The Disciplines, Skills and Heart of a Coach is THE bible for Christian Leadership Coaching! I've read it and re-read it since it was released and have experienced personal transformation and exponentially increased effectiveness in all of my leadership endeavors. Why? Because it works! And why does it work? Because Tony Stoltzfus goes way beyond teaching skills and principles to matters of the heart; its condition and its motives. By doing this, he makes it clear that to practice the disciplines and skills of a coach from the well of a Christ-like heart is to walk in the footsteps of the most riveting figure of history, Jesus Christ! Read the book, do the exercises, and ask God to transform your way of being with people even as He transforms the way you view them; to see others through His eyes, full of potential to become more and more the people He made them to be, to do the things he made them to do. Read Leadership Coaching if you dare to be personally transformed and you're willing to consider a relational lifestyle that will maximize your potential and everyone with whom you have the privilege to interact. One final word: I've had the opportunity to know the author personally and can testify that he practices what he preaches. Read with confidence that the way of being described in Leadership Coaching is time-tested and proven. A Great Book!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was inspiring, encouraging, and educational. Reading it confirmed in my heart that God is calling me into this profession. My desire is to be effectively and professionally trained so that I can have more impact on people’s lives. This book has definitely pushed me in the right direction and I have recently started a live coaches training class.I recommend this book to anyone who feels called to this industry, someone who is not quite yet sure, but interested, and to every leader who wants to be more effective in leading. This book was very easy to read and very practical!!It was DEFINITELY worth the money!!

It reads like a textbook, but the material is very good.
This was required reading for our Church Life Institute Cohort. The book is about a different approach to mentoring and counseling, by using the process of coaching. Coaching utilizes listening, thought-provoking questioning, accountability, and encouragement. The premise is to let the person whom you are coaching direct the conversation, as you provide help, without advice, by listening and asking good questions. If you are looking for a different approach to mentoring, discipling, or counseling, this is a good read. I recommend it.

Order the book while on vacation, it was waiting for me when I got home. It was in good shape and ready to be read. I would order from them again.

A Sales Managers Perspective...
I lead a sales team of 16 sellers with a Fortune 250 Company. Our performance management model is based on achieving both results and commitment from our sales teams. Clarity of objectives, teaching of competencies, and providing feedback and recognition are all part of my job along with mentoring, consulting, and teaching.Tony explains the difference between coaching and mentoring in a way that just made sense. It's powerful! Tony explains that coaching really is not about tactics but about changing one's heart. He points out why "Asking" is much more effective than "Telling".It's a challenging book. Changing one's heart is not something anyone does by reading a few pages out of a book on leadership.Anyone who is on the "I Want to be a Great Coach" journey will find the right compass setting with Leadership Coaching. Thanks Tony......
